Veg-flowering cfl ratio

Hey guys,

just a quick question. If I have for example 4 cfl's (daylights) for veg, can i use the same number of soft light cfl's for veg? So like assuming they are both the same watt, can I use the same number of cfl's or would I need more for flowering for a better yield?

Thanks!

You can never have too much light.

The general rule when flowering with CFL's is to have 100 watts per plant. So if you're using 26 watters, that would mean 4 bulbs per plant.

Personally, I think that's a little weak. If you want premium yield I'd suggest 150 watts per plant when flowering.

Yeah, why not?

I dont wanna talk out of my ass because I am no scientist or light specialist but what I can tell you is that it cannot harm your plant.

I know people who have flowered with MH lights, which are for veg. I didnt notice too much of a difference, but I am sure somebody who knows the science behind the light spectrums will disagree.

Hey =D Great to hear! Thanks for the rep!

To answer your beginning question, as I failed to do just before (thinking you were the guy above my post) Yes, you can use the same amount for flowering. The "100w" guy who posted is correct, you want to make sure you have "enough" light to which anywhere producing nuggets is exposed to direct light, or at least not sitting in the shade. You dont technically have to have so many "watts per plant" but just max surface area of light exposure on the plant.

For instance, if you want to grow a plant with 1 little shitty 100 w cfl, you can, by all means, but you would have to do a complex combination of topping and or LST in order to spread the surface area of your plant so that every bit of the plant benefited from the light exposure. However, if you just left 1 plant under 1 bulb, untouched, all of the nugs between the nodes would stretch to the light, the plant would end up looking like a candelabra type thing and you probably would get such a tiny harvest it wouldnt have been worth the effort.

To clarify though, it is said and is proven, that the more lumens (light) that you give to your floweing plants, the bigger your yield will be. Once again I am not educated on this, its just information taken from diff articles I have read.

So ya its okay to use 4 100w soft whites in place of your 4 daylights when flowering, i dont think you will have an issue. If you do, simply purchase the tiniest soft white CFL you can find with a thin little cord and hang it in the "jungle" of the plant aka the middle without touching the foliage.
