VEG and Flower Assembly and CO2 QUESTION

So i'm framing a veg and flower room in my basement. One 1000 watt HPS in the flower room. My questions are as follows:
is 8x8 sufficient for the flower room?
I'm going to have 8 to 10 mothers in veg. What would you advise for the size of the veg room? I'm also planning on doing my cloning here on a multi-level shelving unit with fluorescents.

Would a couple 400 watt MH's do the job for the mom's?

Also in my flower room I'm going to directly vent the light and have the room 100% sealed. Do I need a fresh air intake if i'm running 1300 PPM of CO2? Temperature willing.
My thoughts are the plants will just suck up the CO2 and create O2... Photosynthesis baby. Am I right?

So help me with size of Veg, Lighting necessary and whether or not I need fresh air intake in flower room friends?

Any thoughts or info is much appreciated... Also, I'm going perpetual cycle (obviously) and was wondering what you all are pulling down from a single 1000 watt his?

MUCH LOVE

Okay! So like a good Rollitupper I searched and searched and answered my own question so I want to share my findings.

A good size flower room that utilizes a 1000 watt hps/mh best is 5x5. some say 6x6 but the size also is taken into consideration depending on your grow (sea of green, one big monster plant) a lot needs to be considered.

When using co2 you DO NOT need to ventilate the room unless you have heat or mold issues (humidity should be down for flowering any way) So you can have a completely enclosed flower room.

Depending on if you're cloning, a 400 watt is sufficient in a 3x3 space. I read something about lumens per square foot but don't remember the ratio -- it's easy to find tho. A 1000 watt runs 125-150,000 lumens and I want to say it was 5k per square foot. But don't quote me, definitely look it up. I ended up with a 5'3x5'3x7'3 flower space and a 4x4 veg. I'll post some pics one things get interesting!

Hope this helps any one who was in my position! Thank you for your consideration

you can save some money in power and get some leds of t5s to veg in... you could then go with 2000 watts in ur flower room, which would be great 8x8 or 10x 10...

1000 watts is enough to see some fireworks, but plan for expanding for the big show...

why so many mother plants? Are you running several different strains? SOG?

Mothers take up a good amount of room. I wouldnt keep that many unless I was taking hundreds of cuttings every few weeks or keeping several strains.

The space needed will depend on the length of time youre going to let them grow out before flowering. IME, plants vegged for two months need a couple square feet each if you dont want crowding/overlap.

I would go with 5x5 with a 1000w for flowering and run a carbon filter as a "scrubber"

If you did really well, you could get a gram per watt. Thats 1000g, or about one kilo (2.2lbs) per cycle. A more realistic expectation would be half that.

Just remember, you in a sealed room with 1300ppm of CO2, you won't be in there long without some form of fresh air, the plants will rock in it, you on the other hand, can for only so long. I would always have a way to bring in fresh air to any grow room, even if it was used only a small amount of the time, while the room is in operation.

I have a "tall boy" carbon filter. Are you saying i should put it in the flower room (fan connected) and have it vent back into the room or out? back into the room sounds like a pretty good idea and i'll definitely exchange the air every night while they're asleep.
I just can't afford a lot of timers or controllers at the moment so i'm trying to keep this very simple until I build more knowledge and learn from my mistakes.

So for now i'm venting my light directly and injecting co2 during the day and then switching vents and pulling air in a 4 inch hole then out a 6 inch. I have an inline fan that moves something like 425 square feet per minute, it came with a sweeet controller to turn it up and down.

Not to go too far off topic but I used a 1000 watt agrostar dual hps/Mh for my first but switched to a digital ballast for this... all i have to say is WOW. I can tune it to 1000 watt or 750 and lower, I know it's not news to you guys but when I did my research I was impressed. Very cool stuff

I saw someone post something about calculating how to tune your co2 regulator by the square footage of your room, I need to find it. Mine is more like 5.5x.5.5x7'3 so I was thinking about getting one of those desktop co2 readers to put in there until I spring for a decent controller.

I ordered from the TUDE and got my fems in 7 days over here in the north east. I have so many because some mothers will just go right into flowering and won't stick around long. I got Green house seeds: lemon skunk, great white shark, white rhino, trainwreck and cheese. Barney's farm LSD and Critical Kush. Humboldt Sour Diesel #2 and some freebies: 2 purple dream from grandaddy purple and OG kush from grandaddy purple. I'll throw some pics up of my finished room and the kids when they get interesting -- I'll most likely make a grow journal.

Thanks for everyone who responded, I loved the fireworks metaphor. Legit

Thanks again! peace
