Ack, been out of town for a while now. This is the first time I've run through the forums looking for threads to post in. :3
I have a custom spectrum COB from VanQ. Nothing to complain about here, my largest issue has been heat issues on the RP lens (which has nothing to do with VanQ) which I'll have to eventually rectify. I'm still in touch with those guys and they ask me tons of questions, mostly about veg/bloom spectrums. They've sold a few lights per my recommended bloom spectrum, one to a guy in Spain and one to a guy in the UK and we're waiting to see what they have to say about the light in a full cycle setting. Recently I got an email from them and they just found out that their bloom spectrums had enough Blue in them to veg MJ plants perfectly well. I had been telling them this for a month!
So, basically what I'm saying is they can build a COB per your requirements perfectly well, I can recommend them in that regard without hesitation. However, MJ is illegal where they are so they are relying on customers to test their products and report back with results and/or constructive criticism. While their spectrums will grow plants, I wouldn't take their word that one of their ratios is exactly what you need for mmj. Take the research/knowledge that you've accumulated and apply that to a custom COB that they can build for you (if you're even still interested).
And if you do buy something from them, I'd love to hear about it!

the pre-made 7-band chips I've found on aliexpress - they are about $1/watt + the cost of the driver. The vendor for the cheap XPG plates like Chronikool has will do a custom run of 20 x XPEs (custom mix 60W, like cw/ww/red) for < $35 per plate but requires a minimum order of 20 units. That would probably be great bang-for-the-buck if they manufactured some and sold them in smaller quantities.

Yeah, I've actually thought about asking some of those eBay sellers what they'd charge for a custom spectrum Cree 30W-60W. You see the Blue/Red combo's, but never WW/Red, or whatever. Thanks for stepping up to the plate on that one.
Honestly, if you got a bunch I'd be down for at least one of the 30W'ers. If there's enough interest perhaps we can get a group buy going? If you're that interested maybe start a new thread "Custom Ratio Cree Group Buy" and see how many people walk in.

Itz a great idea...but i have told myself i cant spend anymore on LED's at this stage.....although i did say that before replacing the floodlight panels...

I love leds, but not into point source chips
I am getting awesome results since adding 4 @23w led tubes (0.5W Samsung 5050); 3 WW = 1 NW
COBs are already available in tubes
Seems simple to get individual tubes in one spectrum, then mix them side- by- side
This gives the grower more control + equal spectrum over the entire canopy

I've got lots of 5050s and 5630s that I've played with. Originally I lined the entire interior of a 5Gal bucket with them - it worked great, pulled nearly 300W of power, but produced a ton of heat. I recently took about 5M total of lights (Red 5050s, WW 5630s, CW 5630s - all no-name chinese) and slapped them on the bottom of an aluminum baking pan with a 120MM fan sitting in the pan blowing down on the inside surface. This is pulling about 75W and cools much better than my previous effort. I'm going to throw it in a cramped space in my cab that is otherwise hard to use and see how it works.
