UVB Light

Ok I read a lot of palaver on here about uvb light increasing the essence level so I went and bought a 26 Watt 10% curly tail lizzard light. Put it on a timer and ran it for an hour at about the midpoint of the 12/12 flowering light cycle. It scorched the sheet out of several sets of leaves towards which it was pointing and they wasn't real close to the light. I sent the warden off and traded it in for 26 Watt 2% model. Have it set up to do the hour thing starting early this AM. They are in the sleep cycle right now so hate to disturb em at the current time. Do anybody know if I am doing the right thing here? Thanks.

From what I can gather on this and other forums, UVB use is not very widespread, and experimental.

If the theory about resin / uv protection is correct then I would have thought constant UV during the flowering day period would be ideal. Maybe also acclimatise them to it during vegetative?

Do keep updating this forum with your UVB experiences, I'm seriously thinking about trying it myself on one half of my double cupboard.

My gf read on a nother forum that the light range is between 2700 and 3200 (i'll double check). But you only have the light on for ten minute regiments 3 times during lights on cycle. On a different forum (i'm a member of a few), the uvb is better used during flowering for resin production.

I was hoping to use UVB during flower for resin production also.

I would have thought constant UVB to be good also, and wonder why the first level you bought would burn the plant at safe distance if that same light wouldn't hurt a lizard. Plants and reptiles live with the same sun.

I wonder how much UVB is in the rays of the sun at mid day? It seems like it shouldn't hurt to have some UVB on during 12/12. Please let me know if you all find anything about how UVB should be applied during flower.

if you check you tube and look for the "marijuana guy", he does a 20min lecture on UV B and trichomes reaction to it. That may give you a better understanding on how it works.
