UV Light Experimenters post here

I have been looking into the theory of using alternative lighting with high UV concentration.

Well since im kind of tight budgeted I decided to use my two blacklights that were just collecting dust. I am using them on an Auto-AK47.

The only shame is I do not have another budding plant to experiment with... since my other two plants are not autos.

So I have been running the plant on 12 hours under my t5 and 12 hours under the black light.

I know people are going to ask why not 24 hours under the t5? well I have two plants under that light that are under 12/12 and no other room to grow in.

So blacklights are the only lights I have that are dim enough to run without disturbing my other two plants dark cycle.

I just put a tarp over the light that is directly above the plants and made a seperate spot in the grow room for my auto 47.

I have been doing this for about 3 days now.. the plant is closing on a month of flowering and the past 3 days I have noticed significant Trichome build-up.

Was wondering if anyone else has tried something similar? With maybe a lizard light or some other form of high uv producing lights.

Pic of the lower buds as well.

For those who are wondering what the hell I am talking about in the first place here is the scoop.

The theory is that the whole reason Cannabis plants grow Trichomes in the first place is to protect the plants delicate flowers from being burned by the hot sun.

These tiny bulbous mushroom-like crystals reflect light away from the plants sexual organs. They also work as a defence against insects and other predators.

So knowing that, the idea is to give your plant a large dose of these UV rays to trigger its defense mechanism. Making it coat itself with resin filled Trichomes. Everyone knows the more trich's the more potency.

Now we look at grow lights, most people do not take this into consideration.

Grow lights are not designed for trichome production on plant... they are designed to make your plant large and healthy. So now we must look for alternative lighting that has large doses of UV light to make our plants produce more resin.

I know all the hps growers are having a fit about this and are convinced that High Pressure Sodium is the best for thc production but this is NOT TRUE. High Pressure Sodium is the best YIELD producer.

It has been proven that Metal Halide and High Output Fluoroscent lights produce more trichomes. Unfortunately they can not produce the bud weight hps lamps are capable of. So it is believed to get the best product possible you should flower with both hps and mh lights.

what I've seen on it. Is not so much tric's production as resin. I'm largley going with what your saying . I left the light on with the hps and cfl's. I kind of started late with the uv 4th week of 12/12.

This is grow 3 with the same seeds and so far this is looking like the best of the 3. I can't say it's all uv. I've changed just about every part of my grow. Soil, nutes, grow room and just the ways I'm doing stuff.

need some trich pic's guys... I would really like to see the results of anyone who is using any light close to the uv spectrum.

Mine has still a ways to go.. weeks and man its just covered.

Lets keep this thread going. I am searching high and low for info like this.
What about the different wave lengths of UV light. What is the target NM that we are trying to hit?

Well shit. forgot to do close ups before I choped this last grow. As for the uv light Didn't see any diff. I let the grow go but it turned hermi on me. So the whole grow went sour.
