using well water for AG

thought i would post this for anyone using well water. just some info.


this is a res solution for use in AeroGarden.(at least what i use.)

just made 2- 1 gallon pre-mix reservoir solution using General Hydroponics # bottle formula. followed exact directions on back for flowering and blooming.

basically 5ml of grow, 10 ml of micro, and 15 ml of bloom per gallon.

added Hygrozyme at 9 ml per gallon.

sat for 1 hr and then ph tested them both. the picture isn't the greatest but the test shows not quite orange at 5.0 not quite yellow at 6.0

pics are included as well as the 5ml pipette i use to measure with.

any thoughts or ideas of improvements? kind of a weird question since i just following directions. maybe double the bloom? just leave be?

Well aint really sure of your question. Sounds like your ph is right on the money. Lot of Bloom called for in that mix. Them I use it only take like capfuls per gallon. I think it wants some now but I been trying to give it nutes one week and plain water the next week. I think it drank more of the nute water. Taking it as a sign maybe it wants mo nutes. Whutcha think? I just giving it about half stength so far till I got to to the bloom additive. I used it like it say on the bottle. May have gave me a little burn around the edges. This is coming up on nute week so I might cut em back a bit.

this seems to be working for now.

unfortunately, i had 6 plants. 2 at 5-7 weeks. 2 at 3-5 weeks and 2 at 1-3 weeks.

after flowering 12/12 for 14days i was able to determine that the two biggest were males. gone. damn.

after a couple more days, i noticed another one with nuts. gone. damn

its been about 4 days since my last hack on a male and the other three are definitely female.
two little hairs. no balls.

bad thing is they are my 1-3 and 3-5 week plants so they are not as developed as he males were.

but now that i know they are female i can clone. been reading on the posts and i should be able to clone what i have into a SoG as explained by Al.B.(props)

they still look good but a little thin and stretchy. i want to top and clone to help promote side growth and development. will post pics soon.

may be high but no nute burn at all so far by following the directions. starting from seedling/young plant formula with more gro than bloom thru transition and finally to supa bloom. but no nute burn ad ph is right on the money with no adjust up or down needed. also i periodically check right from the res and get the same readings of ~5.5. stuff is easy.

oh and my starting ppm for well water is ~75 but i dont know if it is hard or not. i heard from someone that if you take a shower and the soap lathers up good and easy you have soft water and if not then you have hard water. never had it professionally tested although i drink it straight.
ppm after nutes is like ~1200
