I will be growing 2 plants. I do not have a light for vegetation so I'm not sure if I can only use this light, but will this work? If I do need a light for vegetation what should I get?

600 watt digital dimmable HPS/MH system. Use MH for veg, HPS for flower. I run a 3x3 tent at 75% power. MH bulb. Be prepared for heat. Stay away from LED if your new. This is the STANDARD. Not to mention the color an mh system brings to your foliage. This system is useless unless you can vent efficiently. Also you will have to note air cooled hoods although compact and neat, have been known to reduce yield and effiency by 25%!!!...

Hope that helps.

Id say more like 15% yeild reduction. Id rather have have a littleb less yeild than no yeild because my plants got fried. . Using hps . . Are almost mandatory

Sure 15, hps do run hotter. I prefer better yields, and just keeping an eye on things youll be Not burning them? Im also running a non aircooled umbrella, with 32 (0 deg celcius) degree ambient temp on entry with a booster fan + your reg exhaust. So maybe I will run into these heat issues in the summer. If space is a concern, then a 6 inch aircooled is hard to beat.

My hps is just scalding hot without the hood. May just be where im at but I coucouldn't bb usrb it without a hood. . U can that's awesome! Smoke on bro

I haven't thrown in the hps yet. I may be in for a surprise. Ill take your advice and do a dry run to see if I need to get an aircooled hood before flowering. Hmm. Thanks! And Jef let us know what you ened up going with. If you do go LED let us know as im interested but don't have the balls to go led just yet.

That LED is nice for growing a small houseplnt but I wouldn't grow weed with it I just think it's not powerful enough. Shit for that money u could get a 400w HID setup. But if u want to grow with LEDs be prepared to spend about 400-500. Of course you'll save money in the long run on electric.

Long run as in a year or two. My 600 only mad the bill jump 30$ and that's fans light and everything. To me your not saving anything because the difference in yeild between led and hid can pay for itself. Hid are just better than led. Not to say led are bad but look at all large scale grows none use led and there is a reason. They just dont compare to hid. Some higher priced may give them a run but hid will prevail untill more led . Is made. Spend 300 on hid and 300 on led and see which yeild is better and which is able to grow more plants
