Using T5's for both grow and flower?

Hey all, was recently given a ballast and bulb for a MH light, that a friend of mine "liberated" from his work. I have been growing under four T5's for the past month or so, and was planning to switch over to the new light soon. I live in a very old house with old electrical, and just found out that I don't have enough amps in my home to run this massive light. Was just wondering if its possible to use these T5's for the entire grow? Maybe have to switch bulbs? Any info is appreciated, thanks.

You can, I have done it myself with x2 T5's. Yield is very low and fluffy. My smoke was great but didn't have nearly the weight I hoped, to me in my situation it was a waste. Look at how long you vegged these and how much money you have already invested. Might be worth moving to get that better light on it. How many watt is that MH ballast? You must have some REALLY old wiring. After doing my last under T's and having a HPS this time....there is no comparison in my opinion.

With T5's you look at the light wavelength, 65k usually best for veg, then get some 27k bulbs for flower.

I've been using T5's for some time now, currently using a 4 bulb T5 and have decent grows, sure it's not as great as MH or HPS but it does work and the smoke is decent, for low budget, I'd say better than nothing, and certainly better than cfl's.

If you have enough you will be fine.. They are an excellent light if you can keep them close enough...if not grab a few CFL and spread that light around a bit more.. That's what I did with HO tubes... spread some CFL around in addition to the HO and keep em low and focused.. you will surprise yourself..

I have an 8 bulb Quantum Bad Boy. It allows me to use 2 tubes at a time,. I have grown using 4 tubes to vg results. A lot depends on the bulbs. I use Quantum bulbs and/or variety of bulbs from the Aquarium industry

During veg, I would mix 6500 & 2900 3:1. Early flower 2:2 and late flower 1:3

ZooMed Florosuns (avail at SOME Pet Smarts) are an excellent choice for the entire flowering stage, and can be used 2:2 in veg as well

These are growing under 8 bulbs, ~ 7 days to harvest

The bulbs are getting a bit long in the tooth. Though not too bad, buds were fuller last 2 grows

I agree that adding some 2700K CFL's and swapping out your T5's 6000k to 3000k for flower would help. You're all set as far as vegging.

Thanks alot guys, that really helps. I may just have to buy a smaller HID that my home can use without constantly blowing a breaker. The one I have now is 1000 w, so prolly be ok using a 400w one, as well as the T5's
