Using rain (or melted snow) for plants?

So, I've read in multiple places that plants really like rain water.

Would it make sense to catch rain water in buckets, then transfer to gallons to save for later? It doesn't really cost anything and prolly helps the environment!

What about melting down snow to use for water? There sure is plenty of that shit around this time of year!

...yes sir! Rain water is awesome. Get it, save it, use it! You maybe want to oxidize it with a bubble stone before you use it.....but, HELL YEAH! FREE H2O!

I use a food grade 55 gal barrel under a down spout.Works great..Good Luck on your grow.

When I used rain water I had to add cal/mag to it. For the cost of cal mag I could just use my city water that already has it in there. PH of rain is lower than tap also.

Cool! I have a bunch of those green bins laying around with crap in them.

I'm gonna go outside a shovel a bunch of snow into them haha. I guess I'll get some use out of this garbage while its here!

How long will it last? In something like a sealed milk jug?

Im pretty sure thats a good idea, rain water has bennies not found in the tap or distilled.

Pot plants have evolved with nothing but rain water for eons. You should not have to add anything. Am I missing something?

The only issue might be that rain now is tainted a bit by pollution, but no more ppm than in the air.

You mean the PH adjustments? Yeah. I don't think I'll bother with that. I'll let them get the water as natural as it gets.

If you mean nutes...well...a little more of a good thing never hurt, right? I'm using all FF nutes anyway, so it IS all natural. Its just a concentration of the goodies they'd be getting otherwise :]

i used rain water that i caught off my green house roof on one grow and i had some strange creatures crawling up and down plants in fact it was like an Amazon rain forest in there lol
