Using magnets to make plants grow faster, anyone?

If I remember correctly, I do believe we are supposed to be taking hemp to the ISS this year to begin studying the effects of 0g due to the fact it would most likely be one of the first crops we took to Mars/interstellar due to all of it's uses.

I'm sure I can dig up the article once my brain wakes up...

"First, a sensor failure in the traditional root module on the station caused the plants to receive higher than specified water levels. Investigators believed the overwatering would disrupt nutrients and oxygen in the traditional module, making the newer improved module look better in the comparison.

Surprises in microgravity research are not unusual, though, and it turned out that overwatered traditional module sprouted and developed leaves about twice as fast. "This suggests the conservative water level we have been using for all our previous experiments may be below optimal for plant growth in microgravity," said Topham.

The second surprising result was discovered when the root modules were unpacked on the ground. The new fertilizer being tested had a slower and more even release rate, which had helped lower the plants' accumulation of salts during ground studies. Investigators expected to see higher salt accumulation in the space modules, but the opposite occurred."

Here’s a quick snip but NASA studies have reported multiple times at near or above 200% growth rates.

edit: and plants liking music is not a myth, I’m actually going to put a speaker into my tent once I move into a place where my neighbours won’t hear :)
I remember she put small paddles about the size of a dime on the leafs then hooked up to a box recording responces of the plant it was weird almost like the plant had a emotional responce to what was going on around it with noise and the hard rock caused the waves to become violent on the electronic graph and soft orchestra music caused the waves to calm right down almost a flat wave it was really cool.I think there has to be something to it seriously.but for fun I need to find a strain that likes aerosmith and grow that one.But it does make you wonder how much if any of a over all difference it would make and could you even tell? Interesting to say the least. P.S. obviously she was much smarter than me I made a erupting volcano like about 50% of the other kids did.but mine was way cooler.

SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO PLANTS WHEN YOU PLACE A MAGNET IN A POT? ---
"Magnetism And Plant Growth How Do Magnets Help Plants Grow. There is some evidence that magnets can actually enhance the growth and yield of many plants. ... Studies have demonstrated that magnetic treatment of seeds speeds up germination by accelerating the formation of proteins in the cells. "
"Magnetizing seeds before planting increases starch and protein production, according to Life Streams International, a maker of household water purification systems. The extra pull on the seeds stimulates rapid and early production, speeding the rate of germination and growth. "

I've been using various sized magnets for years. They're cheap and certainly don't do any harm, so...

I use magnetite marbles and simply encircle the main stem at the base

I know This is old post
I wanted to do this for some time .
Saw this video recently -https://youtu.be/pimvByiiYZo
So bought this -https://www.magnet4less.com/n52-neodymium-magnets-ndfeb-block-2-in-x-2-in-x-1-in
Bought some clones one was weak and after dropping it did not help it condition .so tried it did not help .
Then realized needed to be south polar up not north pole .
That clone die . Pic #1
Did another with south pole up pic #2
Third now pic #3
Was not able to load pic will try again later

what a load of dribble, some people just spin shit for the sake of it...next thing some fool will be saying add crystals to your soil or coco , add a dream catcher to your room for the plants bad vibes...... :wall: :eyesmoke:

Great idea.

Quartz crystals experience the piezoelectric effect. That means that when sound is applied to said crystals it produces electricity. Also when around magnets, it produces electricity. Oversimplification but, hear me out. By combining these ideas along with playing music for them in the grow room we may be able to create a measurable current in the medium.

In all seriousness, electro-culture has been around for a while. There have been people applying magnetism, sound, and electricity for a while. I attached a paper someone else wrote up that has some old as fuck references I'm too lazy to dig up. You can also find videos on Youtube of how magnets affect germination and growth. Not sure if there is any for cannabis but I've seen peppers and, I think microgreens.

I lined a Phototron grow system with magnetic sheeting. The plant grew into one huge bud that weighed over 10 pounds.

I had video but this was back when video cameras used magnetic tape and without thinking I set the camera on top of the unit. It wasn't until much later that I realized that the magnetic film I lined the Phototron with had erased what was on the tape which had the entire grow and harvest documented. By then the bud had been broken up and sold. I never got the chance to do another grow with my magnetically modified Phototron as it was stolen during a burglary of my home while I was out of town on a business trip. I think I showed the wrong people because the only thing that was taken was the Phototron. Nothing else was missing.

This is the type of unit I modified. Those of you that don't remember the Phototron it was a state of the art grow system and worth every penny of the $600 they cost. I'm surprised they are not one of the dominant players in the cannabis industry.

I know this is an old thread but Ive recently stumbled across this magnet thing. I find it interesting but I am skeptical like many that have piped in.
Any potential experiment that can help cannabis should be looked into without the negativity. A few decades ago LEDs were just hitting the scene. So many growers turned their nose up to the idea. Scorned those attempting grows. Look where we are now.
Granted there are a ton of magic potions and gloriously over thought methods out there BUT they all deserve a look see. Having a closed mind gets us nowhere.

Magnets ya say...hmmm. I wonder how they would respond to a electromagnetic pump?
