I have been doing hydro for a few years - just as a hobby.
I finally planted outside for the first time this year and not only were yields much better but these plants are monstrously tall. It's now almost fall and I took some cuttings - hopefully to save the plant for next year - growing outside again.
I'm putting these cuttings (6 inch size) into 8' tents (5' x 5') but since spring is about 8 months away, I don't want these plants to grow too tall or too large until I transplant outside next year.
If I put these in 5 gallon paint buckets and in soil, can using household LED lights (say 4 lights per tent (around 50w total) be enough to keep them alive, keep them growing slowly and by spring 8 mo. later be somewhere around 3' in height without being too large??
I don't want it too high maintenance in off season (lower electric bills, less watering, less tending to)... growing in hydro was fun and extremely productive but I probably only want to visit these tents maybe once a week or two (and have automatic drip watering to keep the soil moist)
