Using lake as a watter source

I used live well water for years out of a non industrial huge clear reservoir. Great for compost tea.

Too much of cows in the water or small body of water is different. Mostly collecting rainwater when possible.
 
Pond or lake water is the shiz nit! I used some fish tank water out of a 10gallon betta tank, seedling's exploded with growth over night.
 
That's what we used when I grew up. Doing small guerilla grows not far from a local lake, worked well but it all depends of what's in that water.

Most plants can tolerate more salt (chlorides) then people may think. Good luck in your endeavors!
 
Nothing wrong with lake water. I use river water never had a problem..Can't mix indoor with outdoor's water doe's not have to be perfect it is a weed.That almost like saying don't use rain water...
 
Does the lake have good fishing if so grab a fish head or two and add it the next time you get the water lol you should be fine best of luck to you with all of your endeavor be looking forward to seeing what you do next
 
To be safe.

Add some household bleach. You will have to look up the right amount to gallon or liter but best to kill pathogens that might be rather than contaminate your grow that you will smoke.

Let Stand. Then add your air stones and oxygenate as the roots love oxygen and any excess chlorine will be evaporated.

That is if this is an indoor grow if not probably best to still add bleach and let stand a day before using just in case there are any things that could harm or kill your grow.

The man is asking for input.

So there are things to consider.

Is this lake a natural lake? Is it a reservoir? Does it get runoff from farmland?
Most growers would not want to be applying pesticides and or other contaminants that may be carcinogens when the Cannabis plant uptakes.
Cannabis is famous for taking up heavy metals, chemicals and radiation. Hemp has been used to detoxify soil.

So in my medical growing realm I advocate not using dangerous to one's health soil, water and other chemicals.

I say all this as more input for @victoryou That's why they have asked question I am sure.
