Using grow room exhaust to dry bud.

For a while now I have used the air coming from my grow room to dry my already manicured buds. Usually they take two days to dry almost completely but usually three. The reason being it is a rather convenient option that allows me to check on my drying bud every time I open up the grow room. And it stops the whole house from smelling like weed.

I tend to make sure I don't let the bud dry out all the way. Looking to loose 50-60% of its moisture before either putting into jars or bags and curing afterwards.

I Just harvested some pineapple express, And have been sampling some white widow that I recently dried the same way. Its pretty smooth smoke, but the potency for me, seems to be lacking. My patient however said it was too strong for him.

My question is this. Does it really matter how fast you dry out your bud? I mean the goal is to remove the excess moisture in order to prevent mold and start curing, so as long as all the moisture isn't all gone, it should still cure fine?

Otherwise I will have to find another place to dry, but it sure the hell would be nice for it to be easy to get to every day. :hump:

I am growing with 219 watts, sunsystem 150HPS and one 69w 2700k cfl bulb. The exhaust ducting is not hooked up to either light, but is more like a chimney that collects the pool of hot air that develops near the top of the grow room and uses two CPU fans in tandem. They suck out the hot air and blow it all into the crawlspace. But before getting to the crawlspace the air grows through a much smaller box I made, and its in this box I have been drying my buds.

As far as potency, your not gonna alter it much by how fast you dry the bud.... as long as it wasnt done in less then a day... As far as harshness, and taste - it definitely has alot to do with your drying/curing method... If it wasnt strong enough, ask yourself this... Did you take it down at the correct time? Were the trichomes cloudy and Amber?? What are the Genetics of what you grew? Was it bagseed? A clone? a Purchased seed? Those are the types of things that make the difference in strength..

It was white widow that I purchased from an actual dispensary, and have been cloning from a mother. I try to harvest when only a few trics are amber and most are milky. IMG_1136cropped.jpg Picture of the white widow bud I'm talking about right before harvest.
