Using Coco

I'm getting ready to start my first grow, and I think that I would like to use Coco as my medium.

I need a little advice on what the best kind to get is for a container grow, and Coco safe nutrients that can be used during Veg and flower stages. I've seen a lot of people say that Gravity works pretty well during flowering stage, so I'm considering buying that, does anyone have any suggestions other than Gravity that might work just as well or better?

Thanks for the help!

Hey thanks for the fast replys! trying to find info on this medium has been a huge chore, especially considering the people that use it have nothing bad to say about it that I've found yet.

I saw a guy on 420chan that grew with coco and loved it. He inspired me to use coco as well. I only mix it in with my soil, but it makes a very large difference. The soil is much lighter and fluffier, and watering it is actually a bit easier now.

I haven't tried growing solely in coco, but I can say that it's a good medium.

Coco is not something which you will find easy to use right from the start. You might even lose your first round of plants..i donno maybe not but what you have to remember is that they want a lot of nutrients as its an inert medium(just like a hydro grow). Fertilise very lightly as soon as they sprout. If your cotyledons start turning yellow then they want more food. If they ever have problems it will most likely be a food issue. Once you get the hang of coco i'll tell you, you'll love it! Plants grow with amazing speed and its great to controll exactly what your plants want unlike soil were you would never really know how much food they want/dont want. Coco is simply the best medium to use..seriously hehehe:-P
good luck mate

oh and dont ever let it dry out! use 100 percent coco and it will be almost impossible to over water. Cut it with perlite for even better drainage but I never found it any more useful, its great on its own. get the canna brand coco for your first time so you dont have to mess around with washing the coco.

Thanks for the advice and information everyone! I went ahead and put in an order, spent a little more than I was wanting but I think in the end it'll pay me back 10 fold found a site that was reasonably cheap, although the shipping almost cost more than the actual products I went ahead and got:

50 litter bag @ $19.25 http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=1023&product=canna-coco-large-bag-50-l

Coco A & B 1 lt. @ $21.90
http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=1041

PK 13/14 250 ml. @ $5.95
http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=1056

Rhizotonic 250 ml @ $17.95
http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=1054&product=Rhizotonic

Altogether it was $65.05 and shipping was another $41.13, so $106.18 total the weight of the soil really smacked me in the face on the shipping lol, but what can you do?
