Using a fogger to take clones, roots in 5 days.

I just wanted to share a tiny project I had going as I was curious after reading around
on the net about cloning and the best methods. I had tried rapid rooters, as well as diy
aero cloners and had good results but it was always 2-3 weeks before I could transplant
and I wanted to get faster as I had seen people transplanting in 7-10 days.

Using a rubbermaid roughneck small tote with neoprene collars, two airstones, and a
fogger(with float) I was able to get roots to begin development in just under 5 days.

I realize people had problems with the foggers raising temperatures, but I found that even
when leaving the fogger on 24/7 the temps stayed pretty consistent at 80* with a ambient
temperature of 82. I also made sure to use nothing but RO water in the reservoir as I had
also heard many complaints about the nutes in the water gumming up the fogger and then
it failing but I have not had any issues with it just yet. The only nutrient I used was a cloning
powder hormone that the clones were dipped in.

I also didn't use any form of humidity dome or upside down plastic containers, I would spray the
tops of the girls with some RO water once a day starting immediately after cloning.

I hope some others might be inspired to try the same, and can hopefully have the same great
results I've had so far.

I will update later with more pictures as the progression continues.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked so far, best times yet. That picture was still about 12 hours before the official 5 day from taken point.

I checked them late last night to see what they were like at exactly 120 hours, and more had sprouted roots and the ones that
were already sprouting were almost an inch long from multiple nodes growing. I can't wait for the lights to turn back on and
see how things are going still.

This is by far the easiest cloning system I've used. No fighting leaking or clogged heads from aero cloners, no slow times from rapid
rooters at least for me. Hopefully only using RO water will keep the fogger from clogging up and I can get the most out of my 25$
investment before I need to rely on redundancy.

Day 6 haven't changed original RO water yet and things seem to be going fine. Some of the larger clones already have about 2" of ultra white roots.

Very interesting. Is "roughneck" the brand name of the clone set-up, and if not what is? Also, what brand/model fogger?
Thanx, Robert in Arizona

It's a Rubbermaid container, the model is "roughneck" and it's a size small.
They're all over the place at my local HomeDepot, and I've seen them elsewhere.

The fogger was purchased off ebay and the brand is Nutramist, make sure
to get one of the auctions that comes with a free float, as that makes
everything super easy.

The reason for the float is that the fogger has to be partially submerged while
also partially exposed, so the float is designed to give it that perfect height
no matter how the water level fluctuates.

I also keep my water level high to begin with so the fog has a thicker density
to it without having to work quite as hard, this also gave me cooler temps as
the fogger has to work harder to heat them up.

Thanks man.

Super happy with the results I've had so far, I think by day 10 I should be plenty ready for transplant.

Fastest I've been able to root clones out of aero/rapidrooters/rockwool so I'm happy. And no aero leaking ;)

Day 7, still haven't had to touch anything.

4-5" of roots on some of them already, damn near ready to transplant if I wanted.
But I wanna let them go out 10 days to see how things go.

Day 8, PH stable at 5.9, 35ppm, and 79.8*. Still haven't had to change anything.

Some of the batch are ready for transplant already, but gonna go to 10 day mark and see.

Day 10 has finally arrived, most of the 22 clones are very much ready for transplant.
Most of the roots are almost 8-10 inches in length and still haven't changed the res, adjusted ph, or added anything.

If you look really closely at the roots you can see ultra fine hairs that have developed due to the fog feeding.

The three strains that are in the cloner are DJ Short Blueberry, Sour Diesel, and Island Sweet Skunk.

I have noticed that some of the larger clones have started a bit of yellowing on the leaves, which
I presume is them asking for food and utilizing what they have stored up. Tomorrow they will be moved
into the main system and given a very low does of food to get them off.

Holy Molly!!!! That looks sick~~~ You seem to have plenty of experience, ahah. I was wondering if you think a buckets with net pots would be better or a large Walmart container for Bubbleponics? By the way keep updated with the pics man nice setup!!

nice. i had only aero for 2 weeks. saw more growth on top than bottom. saw a big difference after adding fogger. only keeping it on 2 min then off for 5min.

Haven't really used it recently as clones are readily available at local
dispensaries so kinda let thread die.

Honestly, I'm looking into using coolers like I've seen many use on here.
For a bubbleponics application I'd go with whatever will be light sealed
as you don't really need a great leak seal cuz the bubbles are pretty
minimal but the light will build up algae if not light sealed properly.

From what I've read foggers are good for adding a boost to your rootzone
but not actually good for sustaining the full life of a flowering plant. Not to
mention the failure rate of the foggers once nutes/addatives are introduced.

Kudos my man. I just paid for the fogger on ebay and a dozen 2" neoprene inserts. Thanks for the inspiration.

O hell yeah I gotta try this. I have been experimenting with different cloning methods and this looks to be the raddest ive seen. I just clipped a batch last night so by the time I order this off ebay and get all set up i should be ready for next batch.
