Usefulness of a male

Ok, this question has probably already been answered and a thousand different times so my apologies, but I couldn't really find an answer that suited my question. Do the males have any use at all? Obviously if you plan to breed it'd be good to keep one around, but other than as studs do they serve any purpose at all?

About 95% of the people I talk to say males are completely worthless unless you are using them for breeding. I personally just rip them out as soon as I can tell they are males. In the past I have taken off the leaves of males, dried them out, and given them to my friend to smoke (just to see if anything happened) and he said he had about a 10 minute high. I'm sure people are going to say, "No you're a fucking liar!!" and that's fine lol. But my friend wouldn't make that up. From what I have heard, THC (for the most part) is only found in the trichome glands in the female plants. If this is true, then I am not sure why my friend was high for 10 minutes. LOL, I'm sure someone with a lot more experience with marijuana will come around and inform us all!

I've smoked male leaves before... It will give you a little buzz, but nothing like smoking buds! If you got enough of em to make hash that would be the way to go. Mabie make butter with them and cook you some brownies... Never tried that... Peace

Paulio, again thank you. You are proving to be quite resourseful. I think at this point since this will be my first grow I will just get rid of any males I'll find.

Additional question: Do males make good compost? ie. would what little THC they do produce be able to be absorbed by the roots of any females I left behind?

nope, plant only uses N, P, K and of course the trace elements. THC would not be obsorbed through roots. Peace
