DON'T USE COLD WATER!!! You'd definitely lock K and degrade quality. Don't worry to much about flushing times, the thing that matters is trichs color and overall looks, she will look done. Also thexception is totally right dry in a dark place! just take two buds and run a test, the difference is dramatic in potency, taste and dried appearance. About leaving her 2 days in the dark, It's advisable just to cut down the light cycle to 10 or 8 hours.

Always wondered about that, does doing all that in complete darkness actually make a diff ?
Generally terpene concentration is at its greatest during darkness and peaks just before sunrise as part of its defense to ward off herbivores, attract herbivore predators and morning pollinators(I already know). Terpene oil in cannabis is where the half medicine is at for us humans. Would it be nice to keep the terpene production going while its drying? To summarize, when light hits the plant, the plant or plant matter will change to daytime "mode" and exit flowering process, taper off terpene production, start making sugars(not good in smoke), draws hydration, respire, photosynthesis etc. Just because it's chopped doesn't mean it's truly dead, the plant matter is still alive will still react to light stimuli as long as it's still hydrated. I won't explain without typing a wall of text why extended darkness helps though but helps greatly in bud quality since doing it.
