alright guys ive started growing three plants from seed. they in 3 and a half inch pots and i been feeding them at half strength nutrients. they very healthy looking and have taken the half strength nutes no problem. ive given them about 5 feeds so far and no nute burn anything like that. they got four sets of leaves on each little plant from the tops down. im thinking of trying them with a full dose of nutes ive just pH my mix and the pH is 6.1 do you think they be ready for this. in the small pots they seem to be drinking half strength about every 3 days. many thanks for any reply's. bertie

what kind of media are you growing in? dirt or coco or peat? 6.1 ph is low for dirt, and high end acceptable for coco and peat.
i grow in coco, and usually feed seedling at 250 ppm once the cotyledon leaves start to turn yellow. when they start to grow vigorously i bump them up to about 400 ppm and leave them there till they go into flower.

When do you plan on transplanting?
thank you for asking that i started the seeds off in 1 inch rock wool cubes. and to protect the roots from the light i put them in the 3 and a half inch pots and covered them with soil. at the moment i got them under a 200w cfl light. i intend to try hydroponics which will be my first attempt so i know when i get a tidy little root mass. im going to have to try to wash the earth off the 1 inch rockwool cube to get any earth of the roots and transplant it into a 3 inch cube. before putting it into a NFT tank. cutting the 3 inch cube to fit the roots in was going to be my next question. bertie and thank you for the reply

Actually getting the soil off the roots is fairly easy.. Just submerge and swish..
Not sure how you transplant into rockwool.. Maybe start in 3"..

If you going to run hydro you don't need to pump the nutes crazy hard. Start at 15% recommended. Generally i end up at about 50% what the chart says to get to my desired 1ec.

i've never done the film hydro thing, but i've done everything from dwc, rdwc, dtw, drip dtw...and i always had the best results starting my res at 5.8 and correcting it as it drifted up. that's still how i feed seedlings in hydro media, though.
