So I was having rot issues with this plant anyway. I took the best nugs and tossed em in a box, few days later I find this:

Have you ever seen this? Not webbing, turns to mush or disintegrates when touched. I did use the box as a trim box last year but..
Lil help

It sucks that you lost that plant to mold but if you find visible mold there is always more spores on the plant. Even parts that look mold/rot free.
So it's best to wash e everything? Last year I washed for first time, it was just becoming a thing now everyone does it. I'm not a fan of how the buds come out.. should I use warm or cold water? Seems cold would be more natural?

Wait so you put moldy weed in a sealed box and wonder why it's moldy? I'm not getting something here.
You're not a fan of how the buds come out after washing? What clean and free from mold spores?

Ok, whole story, plant had rot taking it over, pulled it to stop spread. Tossed a few nugs in a box, box had air holes in it, but obviously the rot/mold was deep. Which is why I seperated/killed it. Wasn't expecting much, just never seen fuzz like that.
Thank you for your input.

And PS: I Said I'm not a fan because my last years wash with h202 water solution left my buds kinda chem-y after a few months in storage. Really have only washed once, could use direction instead of heckling.

Scary stuff there. A serious anti fungal and humidity control is my suggestion. Molds are a bitch here.

Outdoor weed that's already developed mold on one part plant is going to have the spores on the rest of the plant. The mold spores just hadn't germinated. Putting wet trimmed weed with mold spores in a box obviously created the conditions for the spores to germinate and grow.

Mold spores can stay dormant for years.

Mold needs moisture, nutrients, oxygen, and a favorable temperature to grow. All of which you provided.

A warm water several step wash process followed by a good air drying can help prevent but not entirely eliminate the potential for gold to continue growing after harvest.

I washed for first time this year. Absolutely love how they came out. Only through the first of 6 plants. But all my girls will be washed going forward. Here’s the recipe I used off an article someone else so graciously posted in here. Pic of the wash water included. Unreal the shit that comes off them.

4 buckets total. (Recipe is for 5 gallon buckets but we use 20 gallon buckets for large stems)
Bucket 1: Filtered lukewarm water with 32 to 64 oz 3% peroxide.
Bucket 2: Filtered lukewarm water with 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup lemon juice
Bucket 3: Hot filtered water only. (Tap hot – not boiling)
Bucket 4: Cold (not icy) filtered water only.
Fully submerge in bucket 1 with the peroxide for 30 seconds. Submerge for a full minute if you had powdery mildew or bud rot at any time during the grow. Let water drip from buds, and then:
Fully submerge in buckets 2 through 4 for 30 seconds each . . . lightly stirring.
