I really don't know much about this, but i was having a conversation with my Dad about the legalization on Marijuana. He told me that Weed would be legal in Canada if it wasn't for the United States influence on it, thinking that if we legalized it would cause them many problems.

Does anyone know anything about this?
Is it factual???

You think if this did happen it would be like the Prohibition of alcohol in 1919 to 1933, where for some period people would smuggle from Canada? (my guess is not so much)

Any guesstimates of what would happen if Canada did legalize, and US didnt???

We came pretty damn close to decriminalizing it in 2003, and it didnt get in because of american pressure. And even if canada did legalize it, I dont think anything would change. They certainly cannot cut off trade, we rely on eachother too much.

US drug laws are a major influence around the world. I believe that if US were to legalize countries around the world would follow suit quickly.

I also honestly believe that if Canada were to legalize it would put tremendous pressure on the US. Which would be awesome.

Your dad knows his stuff... The US created the drug war worldwide and forced all countries we do any business with or have any pressure over to follow our policies or we would have screwed them all hard in every finacial way we already don't.

We are assholes... Not just the politicians but all the majority of americans who are all too eager to cast a vote on shit they know nothing about or give up our own rights out of fear any time the government scares people.

You have to go all the way back to the days when we stole part of mexico and needed ways to force mexicans off their lands to understand how it all started, then it bloomed incredibly and went worldwide after alcohol prohibition ended and they needed a new enemy.

There are a few documentaries on this subject you should watch if you want the full scoop, but that's it in a nutshell. searh on here for the word documentary...

This same game continues today in the form of the "war on terrorism", the creation of the whole entire Homeland Security Department, the ballooning of our government's size and budgets, the instant giving up of more rights via the patriot act, etc. We will never learn.
