The Unions, corporate America and the Feds have all made it quite clear that the only politically correct method for success is to exploit the system for maxium profit at any cost. Build a new stadium if you want but do not teach. Some schools have cancelled penmanship classes because no one writes any more. Since no one writes who needs english classes. Math teachers do not teach anything beyond how to punch a calculator. Problem solving is no longer taught. The most important rule in math now days is having the best calculator available so that you do not have to figure out how to solve problems.Since reading, writting and arithmetic are no longer taught why should a teachers number one priority be anything other than MONEY

Out of every new dollar set aside for public education in Illinois in the last five years, 71 cents has gone to teacher retirement costs. Only about 60% of Chicago high school students graduate compared with national average of 75%. And 4 out of 10 Chicago teachers send their own kids to private schools!
All this while the state of Illinois has $83billion in unfunded public pensions.

Doctors never really got into medicine to help others, they got in in order to make money - and that's ok for the right.
In fact, the purpose of working at all, to the right, is to profit, to make money,to earn a decent living.
Oil companies are entitled to all the profit they can wring out of consumers no matter what the cost to society
Health care companies are certainly entitled to pay thir CEOs tens of millions of dollars while refusing heart transplant operations to their clients on the grounds that they didn't report having had canker sores as a teen.
Yes, it is laudable to make money at the expense of others.
Except for the scientists who are lying because they want the grant money
Or those who write books condemning the right, because they are only in it for the cash and must therfore be lying
Or the Lawyers who are blood suckers, doing anything for a dime.
Or the teachers who should not be looking after their own bottom line. They should only in the business for the students.
You folks really should get your story straight.
Well this story is about the Chicago teachers and their unions, why don't you practice what you preach and get this story straight and quit trying to avoid it!

You took my post out of context beenthere. I attempted to show the duplicitous nature of the right's worship of the "job creators".
I believe that collective bargaining is a reasonable method of securing decent pay and benifits for anyone willing to assemble to that effect.
No, I didn't take your post out of context, I knew right away what you were attempting to do.
I asked you to opine on this topic, not generalize on collective bargaining.

I am also a product of Chicago public schooling..and it sucks...worst in the country, not an opinion but a fact...I know it is a hard job..I could not do it...but there is too much fat that needs to e cut from this system...The funding is not the problem it is the parents or lack of parenting and fat lazy teachers who don't give a fuck.Now is not the time to make any demands in this awful economy ..especially since you are the absolute bottom feeder in the entire country at your profession.

It wasn't about collective bargaining, it was about the hypocricy of the right.
In particular, the teachers take issue with tying test scores with their pay or ability to work. I think it is difficult to judge a teacher's performance based upon thhe performance of students when there are so many other variables - don't you?

Whats your problem with teachers being payed? 50k is practically minimum wage these days. You suggest paying them less is the solution? I don't get it, your not looking at the problem, which has nothing to do with salary.

what do you mean deprave?? teachers should get paid in peanuts and athletes should make millions for running around on a field.. sounds about right to me..
btw, my sister is a teacher an only makes about $50k a year or so.
