98 out of 100 people are honest, 98 out 100 Corps. are honest. Lump them in a group, call them an "Industry" they take on the "pack mentality" which serves the "pack" not the people, and all of sudden you are left with only 85 honest Corps. But it leaves their hands smelling clean.
Well here's the thing Mr2shim, big corporations will always be there lobbying as long as our elected officials allow them to do so. We don't pay the salaries of those who run big corporations, we do however pay the salaries of our congressmen. Whether you agree or disagree, you can understand why big business lobby's the government, now ask yourself, why does the government allow them to do it!

Wal-Mart is famous for its predatory tactics. They'll send spies to local retailers in order to undercut them. WM sells at a loss, and if the locals try to match, they'll lose the price war because WM is huge. They'll lose anyway; it's built into the strategy. Once the competition is wiped out, WM prices are returned to regional guidelines.
This is capitalism in action. It concentrates power away from the people. cn

No, I used clips from the Daily Show to illustrate my point. Had you watched any of them, in total I think they add up to less than 10 minutes, I think this next bit below would make more sense
What about the CEO's from wallstreet who walked away with millions of taxpayer dollars in severance and golden parachute packages? I remember conservatives in the media at the time of the bailout defending this by saying they had contractual obligations, even though their companies went bankrupt. So even after they destroyed the global economy and were given billions to keep everything barely afloat, the CEO's came out the winners and not a single person went to jail for it.
These are the people you should focus your efforts of demonizing on, my friend. Not teachers. Teachers get scraps compared to bankers on wallstreet and politicians. They actively seek to divert the focus off of stuff like that onto teachers pensions and benefits, as meager as they are, and again, if you don't believe they are, watch those clips I posted. Watch one of the clips I posted.
Just like Bill from my 'Hey White Guys' thread said, getting mad at the educators instead of bankers and politicians in this political climate is like someone coming into your house, eating your food, sleeping with your wife and tearing the place up and instead of getting mad at him, you go outside and yell at the guy spitting on the sidewalk in front of your mailbox...
Sure they should, but not when it comes to public education. Parents do not have the right to dictate what their kid learns based on their own personal beliefs. This is the very reason we have a public education system in the first place.
And like I said, if the parent doesn't agree with this, they have the right to homeschool their kid or send them to a private school.

I don't know anything about that, but I'll give you my opinion
If parents don't send their kids to public schools, do I think they should still pay for the public education system through taxation?
I would probably say no, but that would also go for many other things as well. For example, I don't agree with the wars, so I don't believe my tax dollars should go towards funding them.
Although I don't think a taxation system set up like that would succeed. If we all paid for only the things we used personally, we'd likely have an underfunded infrastructure across the board, so I'm not sure how to solve that one..

So if the public school decided to teach something racist? Are you against a parent having anything against that too? You can't just give carte Blanche to a public school system and not give parents any say in it.
