I know you guys will disagree, but IMO, big business by itself would never be the monopoly we all loathe. When government implements regulations that smaller companies cannot afford to financially comply with, only the big corporations go on.
That would be true IF big business didn't lobby the shit out of congressmen/women to get these regulations passed that allow them more freedom and in turn crush small business.
Well here's the thing Mr2shim, big corporations will always be there lobbying as long as our elected officials allow them to do so. We don't pay the salaries of those who run big corporations, we do however pay the salaries of our congressmen. Whether you agree or disagree, you can understand why big business lobby's the government, now ask yourself, why does the government allow them to do it!
LMAO Walmart is the epitome of my argument!

You're using the Jon Stewart show to argue your point, really? LOL
Major difference, teachers are paid by you and I, so we should have a say in it.
CEO's are from the private sector, not paid for by you and I.
Even though I agree that many of them are way over paid, it's not my business.
Sure they should, but not when it comes to public education. Parents do not have the right to dictate what their kid learns based on their own personal beliefs. This is the very reason we have a public education system in the first place. So Parents shouldn't be the ones in charge of their own children? There is someone better to be the parent? Who would this be? Do they know how expensive it is to raise kids?
Are you for tax credits if parents don't send their kids to public school? No, I used clips from the Daily Show to illustrate my point. Had you watched any of them, in total I think they add up to less than 10 minutes, I think this next bit below would make more sense
What about the CEO's from wallstreet who walked away with millions of taxpayer dollars in severance and golden parachute packages? I remember conservatives in the media at the time of the bailout defending this by saying they had contractual obligations, even though their companies went bankrupt. So even after they destroyed the global economy and were given billions to keep everything barely afloat, the CEO's came out the winners and not a single person went to jail for it.
These are the people you should focus your efforts of demonizing on, my friend. Not teachers. Teachers get scraps compared to bankers on wallstreet and politicians. They actively seek to divert the focus off of stuff like that onto teachers pensions and benefits, as meager as they are, and again, if you don't believe they are, watch those clips I posted. Watch one of the clips I posted.
Just like Bill from my 'Hey White Guys' thread said, getting mad at the educators instead of bankers and politicians in this political climate is like someone coming into your house, eating your food, sleeping with your wife and tearing the place up and instead of getting mad at him, you go outside and yell at the guy spitting on the sidewalk in front of your mailbox...

And like I said, if the parent doesn't agree with this, they have the right to homeschool their kid or send them to a private school.
I dont send my kid to public school I still pay my property taxesAre you for tax credits if parents don't send their kids to public school?
come on, you know my vocabulary is limited to what i can remember from a 72 hour peroid . . .now i have to learn a new word

So if the public school decided to teach something racist? Are you against a parent having anything against that too? You can't just give carte Blanche to a public school system and not give parents any say in it.

Are you fucking kidding me, little behind are we?
I learned the word epitome months ago!
Public schools wouldn't decide to teach racist material. Racism, just like religion, has no place in the public school system.
That is what the Elected
school board is for
