understanding gram per watt

i am still trying to get my head around this, you always hear growers trying to get a good gram per watt of light they use,

how does this work i mean is it per plant or overall grow?

surely the more plants you have crammed in to a smaller space with a certain amount of light you would get alot more bud than having fewer plants spread out?

OVER ALL grow 1 watt = 1 GRAM

its just a really good bench mark........
Think about it ie: 1000W in a room 3x3= 9sqft with 4 plants per sq ft = 36 plants =36once(average sog) so 36oz/ 32gram = 1152grams per 1000w - this is probably an AVERAGE take, if your good you will yeild 1000+gram per 1000w

Its the wieght of all the plants together(dry weight)So a 400 watt grow should yeild just over 13 oz.400divided by 29grams=13.79oz to get onr gram per watt.

say you did more plants in a small space with a 400w light, do you think you would get more than a gram per watt?

Yes and no How big is the space and what is your spaceing ??

im puzzled by your math......in a 6x6 room thats 36 square feet.....remember Area=lengthxwidth
and if you had 4 plants per square foot thats 144 plants dude.....idk where you got those numbers
1000watts wouldn't go as far in a 6x6 room the plants on the sides would get very little light you would want to use 2 600s imo

even then.....3x3 is 9 square feet......thats 36 plants....again where did the 24 come from?
