I think that would qualify, because it is not "in the living space of the children" if it's in a locked basement that they cannot access.

However, I am not an authority on this. Why don't you look into who you can contact locally to get the answers you need? You seem to just be working yourself up into a nervous wreck with the speculation being offered.

The basement is even unfinished. I'm really not that nervous, I've been waiting many years just to be able to grow a couple personal plants. I've waited, I've put my time in being a good little citizen. I feel it is truly ok for me to do now as long as I am a responsible adult with common sense and regard for the law.

I'm getting nervous just reading that. Lol. You might want to rethink all of this. Do you need that much weed that thousands of dollars worth of equipment will give? I'm on a budget of a couple hundred bucks and pulling in ounces. The first mistake I see already is someone who doesn't need to know about your grow knows. Your grower friend. What happens if he gets busted and the cops tell him to rat out others in order to get out of a jail sentence? Your name will be fired out. It's best that no one who you aren't living with knows. Shit, if I had a fight with a live in girlfriend who knew and she left, i'd shut down that grow so fast. Just not worth it, especially with the kids. A small box CFL grow would be better, and that's after you tell your grower friend you aren't going to grow. No one should know but you and your wife. You gotta ask yourself risk vs reward. How much weed do you really need?
