Undercurrent questions

So im just finishing up my first grow after switching to undercurrent hydro from soil.... plant health/product quality is.... top notch... pretty much perfect health (over the entire room, less than 6 fans have started to show signs of underlying problem, and this is at 7wk into flower, so ive accounted it mostly to, plant is reaching end of life)


my question is, ive been having trouble getting the flower size that i did with soil (have another hydro test room that i played around with before switching main area over) Flat out, i know i made mistakes when it came to trimming off lower growth as i completely switched growing styles and wasnt sure how far to take it.

beyond that though, wondering if anyone might have any advice on things i can look at/do to start increasing my flower size

Are you talking about total yield? Or are you talking about Nug size?

As I mentioned earlier.... deff shit the bed in terms of trimming lower growth as this is my first round with this system... 8 plants have replaced the 21 that filled the area previously and learning what needs to be removed is simply... a learning curve... as for ph, i will definitely agree as i did not check, nor try to dial it in... although for what its worth i was using floranova which specifically indicates to not adjust ph. Strain... thats an... entirely different argument, long story short, timer panel went up in flames and had to rebuild entire room/replace plants... got clones from a buddy which i was unfamiliar with. next round im doing my own strain as well as adding a bluelab trimeter. been growing for well over a decade at this point, n yes... koolbloom (powder) has been a regular part of my nutrient regimen. Genetics are... Good, to amazing. Environment = 77f ambient temp, high level of air exchange, 3kw of light over a 38sqft area, air cooled hoods, water temp is very consistent at 66-67f (9x 13g buckets, 1/2hp chiller), room has a 14k btu mini split. environment is... beyond dialed in... there is Zero variation, every component is oversized. im Quite positive that the issue i have resides within PH, training and lollipopping practices.. one thing i have noticed that i find odd compared to all information ive read... the system seems to... drag on in terms of growth rate and development, aka... comparatively to my previous soil setup.. i find the plants to be about a week behind. could this be attributed to incorrect ph?

Can't speak on finishing as I've never grown cannabis in soil. I would think if the plants weren't getting proper nutrition it would delay finishing. Untrained plants it's hard to ever get them that finished look.

In terms of vegetative growth, nothing beats rdwc or dwc. I can fill in a whole 4x4 scrog in 6 weeks with one plant from clone.

Your ph range is the range that certain nutrients will actually go in your plant. Get a digital ph meter and keep the probe wet. Water will be different ph depending on what kind of water it is so those nutes were over selling their product for sure. When I use GH flora trio my water ph will stay at about 6.2-6.3 with RO water. It will then drift up. I check it once every other day or so. The larger your system size the longer you can be away from it.

i can say as much as, nutrient deficiencies were/are not present, on the very last week of flower and flushing atm and the entire room is.... very healthy. few leaves are starting to die off due to the age, trichome production is.. immense, Very very good. and yes am aware of nutrient uptake vs ph.... i never really had a large concern throughout as the plants have shown immaculate health. will upload photos soon. from what i can tell based off my long exp with soil... things i need to address are training/trimming lower growth, dialing in ph to maximize nutrient uptake, but also wondering if i should be switching base nutrients. currently using gh floranova, fairly sure there are better choices for the growing style im using now though.. just not sure what they are.

I ran 2 seasons using GH Flora trio with really good results. I currently run MegaCrop dry mix and it's just as effective as the GH but a bit less money. I also try to start my pH around 5.5 and slowly raise it to 6.5 over the 10 days between rez changes.
