Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

I didn't flush these either and they're far from organic,I use BioBizz for my N but the rest are salts.
4 plants @ 4 feet (ish),400w,3.5oz (ish) per plant.
Silky smooth 3g blunts.

Monopotassium phosphate (0-52-34) at 1 tsp per 10 litres in weeks 5,6,7,8 (9 week strain) were used as the bloom food for these.

Sometimes I make my own HammerHead 9/18 and experiment.

HEY UB Glad to see your back.. I've got a couple of questions, First I have an indica flowering in Ocean Forest, I used no nutes for the first month and then an 1/8 tsp of Jacks All Purpose 20-20-20 per gallon of water at the rate of 1/2 gal per day. After the third feeding at this rate in 2 weeks they developed a leaf curl issue but not any type I've seen before. New growth curls up the full length of the leaf not the tips either up or down no pics but the curl persists today. Also one more bit of info, I'm using 10 gal cloth grow bags insted of buckets Aero Bags. Any opinion? Cheers

1/8 tsp. is nothing. No opinion, too many factors. Have you been lifting the bags, moving them around? Heat?

I can only speculate that what makes a plant harsh on the palate is its cannabanoid/tars/terpenes/chemicals make up. Flushing or adding pure water just before harvest has been prescribed. I don't buy into that paradigm.

Thanks for the response,\ so would you say that the chemical makeup/terpenes are a result of the genetics of the plant more so than the the growing style?
 
76 degrees and yes I have moved the bags around a little,,, didn't know that was a sin. Don't move the bags around?? why? btw they are sitting on concrete. Cheers

I'd say you're probably a little too wet, combined with low temps from the concrete slab. Raise them up off the concrete a little, and don't over water, it will take their roots time to fill in a 10 gal bag.
 
Damn my wife warned me not to move them,,,, good thing for me she doesn't check here or I'd have to admit I am wrong and that would suck. I'd rather have curled leaves. cheers
 
if you got bread keep your lights on 24/7 in veg..everyone's environment is completely different, but the only constant for everyone is the need for fresh air/water and consistent light. If you can supply your plants with 24/7 light during veg go for it! I have had over 10 harvest no problems leaving 1000watt mh lamps on my plants for 7 week periods scrog. One just needs to have some free time to carefully examine their garden to see what variables can change for better results. perhaps you water and mist your plants, my suggestion would be to raise lights a few inches or turn up the power of an inline fan. from clones I use nute's and once their about 6 inches I cut them in half and clone the tops while stressing the small plant out with lst methods to get the plant ready for a scrog. stressing the plant out isn't as big of a deal as people think as long as you have decent plant genetics to work with!

i just want to chime in here with my .02. Since reading this thread, many weeks ago, i went from 24/0 to 20/4 during veg. With the same phenos, clones of same mom, I saw slower initial growth for the first 3-4 days but after that, no comparison. Adding the dark period alone, virtually no other variables changed, I noticed stronger, faster, bigger growth. I dont really care what any of you do for your grows, I'm just saying that with my strains, it made a very noticeable difference.

As far as nutes go, I wish i would have done more research before my first set of my perpetual. My first ladies are burnt :(. Pretty bad. I started with small amounts and gradually increased them. The girls were off the fucking hook and by the time the showed stress it was too late. I have fed nothing but water since. POINT IS, I learned first hand not to follow a program set by some marketing fool. You feed something when its hungry. They will let you know when that is if you pay attention to them :)

I've been using and preaching a 20/4 cycle for veg for many years. It seemed to be a good compromise between 24/0 and 18/6. Bottom line is knowing when the light saturation point has been reached.

hey UB, i see a lot about your drop in night time temps and want to achieve that but am struggling. I am able to keep my temps at near 75, 24/7. By your posts and info, it seems as if you would suggest i raise my daylight temps to 80-85 and allow my night temps to be around 75. This is only a ~10 degree drop but is about all i can muster without A/C. I am going to complete my first run with temps at ~75, 24/7, then run a cycle at 85/75 and see what happens. It is just really really easy to maintain 75 all day. Think ill roll with it. Love you train of thought by they way. I have always grown outdoors, never used ANY fertilizers at all, and have always had great yields of very good smoke. so I am saying fuck nutrients, its bullshit unless the plants ask for it. Thanks again.

edit: I read the linked thread and strongly feel that Ph is over rated for soil grows. I appreciate the link. I think I am getting my indoor op under control. Much thanks to RIU for having this platform. Most of the users here are morons though, sorry.

The reason for the drop at night is to minimize excessive respiration. You don't want the plant to use the food it manufactured during the day to go to excessive respiration at night. You want the plant to have enough food reserves to build bulk, cellulose, tissue.

And yes, there are too many morons here reason why so many have migrated over to "the other site".
