Such a great read. I spent eleven hours the other day going through and reading this. I do however have one question that I don't remember being answered. Do our plants require more than recommended dosages? Example: with Miracle Gro All Purpose, it says to feed indoor plants every 2 weeks. Is this always going to be strain/individual plant specific? Or, should the recommended dosage be followed exactly?

I would not follow the recommended dosages as the nutes required will be strain specific pretty often. It could easily be too much and you over do it, and harm your plants. Start at 1/5th or 1/4th and see how your plants do. Ideally, it is better to supply low amounts of nutes fairly often, rather than give them one big feeding every week or two. Plants feed better when the E.C. levels are lower than high.

Have spent the past few hours reading this thread.
Wish i Had read it earlier now. Few things I have noticed is
1. You dont flush???? Im using organic soil, would flushing not be required?? and until what stage would i continue to feed my plant during flowering??? to the end? or a week or two from the end????
2. Aside from all this different ratios for the NPK values, whats the ideal ideal for VEG and then FLOWERING???
will be using the advice of feeding additional N during Flowering now for sure. At the moment using hydro nutrients
vege= 35-15-55 and flowering = 30-30-70. N.P.K any good????

Here is a quote I keep on my note pad by UB.
"Your goal is to produce and maintain as much foliage as possible until harvest. A 30-10-10, 9-3-6, 18-6-8 will support that function. A high K food will not support that function. You want the first # (N) to be equal to or higher than the last (K). Make a trip to a normal store like Walmart or your neighborly nursery and find such a fertilizer."
Ya wan't to keep it simple. Try some Jacks Classic. The Dynamic Duo work great together and contains most everything you will need. Oh ya, did I say they were less than $8.00 at there web site.

I think I can answer the flushing question also. UB don't flush. "We are not growing toilets" is what he would and has said before. If watered and fed properly than flushing should not be a problem.

There is no need to flush. If you must follow "popular" thought, then do it.
3-2-1 for veg; 1-3-2 for flower. In the end, the only drill that matters is whatever sustains foliage in a healthy, green condition until the end.

Ive got limited height space and am committed to a SCRoG until I can move to a space with more height, but I am curious if you have experimented with it and what is your opinion regarding it. Never experimented with SCROG. I know a maintenance headache when I see one, but, you do what you have to do.

UB if you have never seen Idocracy you are missing one of the most hilarious films of the last 20 years. Download it, smoke a fatty and after you are done rolling on the floor laughing your ass off at exactly how true that movie is in so many ways you can come back let me know what ya think. Its a shame what 20th Century Fox did to that movie. They didnt promote it, did a small, limited theatrical release then released it to DVD with little fanfare. I think it hit a little too close to home. Mike Judge is the man.
Regarding the Scrog, yeah I know its a maintenance hell...especially during the stretch and filling the screen... but from all the research Ive done it seems to be the best way to maximize production with limited space. Once you get to the meat and potatoes of flowering though it seems like a breeze. My biggest worry is messing up the ferts. My soil has nutes built in so I should be good until about week 2 or 3, and I plan to start with a 20-20-20 at 1/4 strength to begin with...but nutes seem to be the thing that screws so many grows up I want to be careful. Which is why Ive read everything youve written (and others). Any advice is very welcome. Enjoy the movie!

Movie sounds like a hoot! Like I said, if you have limited headroom then you do what you have to do. Regarding use of plant food, you give them what they need at their particular phase. Too little can do as much damage as too much, just dive in and learn what it's all about. Needless to say, when a plant is bulking up big time is when it needs more salts. When its a juvenile with 3 nodes or 2 weeks before harvest is when it requires the least salts. The buzzword is "requires" - not some schedule or chart, not forum popular thought.....

Regarding the SCROG, it's not that much of a headache really. I grow big plants, very similar in final size to what I've seen in your pictures. It's a little bit of daily work getting them trained for the week or two that they grow through the screen, but after that it's gravy. It really does maximize the yield potential for any given space. I resisted for years for the same reason you cited, I just didn't think it would work in my space and thought it'd be a major hassle. It works, and it isn't too much trouble to maintain, definitely worth the effort.
The biggest bonus for me is that it allows me to grow multiple strains in the same space and still keep a relatively even canopy. I keep my indicas in the middle, sativas on the perimeter and it's a beautiful stadium style canopy the maximizes lumens in my space.

a few days ago a buddy of mine gave me a super lemon haze that was in all hydroton...i dont do that so i transplanted it into straight soil fox farm happy frog with mycorrihaze. only thing was. the roots were coming out of the bottom of the hydroton containers holes so when i transplantd i had to slice them they were all tangled up and looked like dreadlocks, so i sliced them so i could pull them through the containers bottom holes once i emptied all of the hydroton out. well since then in the soil it seems to not be growing at all and it wont "stand up" like im so used to with fast growing plants...what do you think is the problem? and also this transplant was over a week ago and the plant is just stagnant except for a few leaves that had completely shriveled tips bu no damage or discoloration on the bases there was a few that died and were somewhat green but super dry and life less, there wasnts even ne water bleeding from the leafs stem when i pulled it off it almost seemed hollowed out...ne help please, i wont have a plant die in my garden.neone know what i should do? iwas thinking surgery maybe to re-transplant it and cut up the roots more evenly so they are not tangled up i think its literally strangling it self
