End quote from the article.

"“I don’t know what America’s overall plan is — I just know that 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines that are standing by to come and help if they’re called,” Cloutier said. “It makes me feel good as an American to know that my country has dedicated a force to come in and help the people at home.”"

these brigades are multi-national and have been training on US land for awhile.

what exactly are they preparing for, when they need military from other countries?

God help us.

I'm aware they've been training here for a while.. but this scares me..

"But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities."

What they are preparing for worries me.. you said it Dizzy.. god help us..

you know... the powers that be are extremely... powerful. they have hundreds of millions of armed men under their control. and who knows what technology they've been hiding from the public.

it's like a midget man wrestling a gorilla on coke. how will the human race come out of this? it seems like we're going to need something godly and supernatural to help us win. maybe a great change will happen, like people have been saying. or maybe Jesus will come and enlighten us with the ability to destroy the nations who rise against humanity.

The technology hidden from the public eye is unimaginable.. for god's sake, just the stuff we know about is frightening enough..

I don't know how we'd fight through it.. but god dammit.. I'll die on my feet before I ever die on my knees.

According to the article:

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

I believe it's for exactly what they say it's for. Does anyone remember the disaster in LA after Katrina?

I live in a military town and after Ivan delivered a wallop here the National Guard and Air Force rolled out and patrolled our town. They did a great job assisting citizens and keeping the looting to a minimum.

In times of disaster when people are panicking and thinking about survival and criminals are viewing it as a "jackpot" it's good to have some military might helping keep to keep things from spiraling out of control.

Frankly... I'd be worried if our military WASN'T training for such events.

P.S. I didn't see anywhere in the article where it indicated we are bringing in military from other Countries..... sorry but we just don't do that.

No one finds it weird that they are going to have military for the first time ever actively on duty waiting to be deployed for these types of emergencies?.. sounds like they know something the rest of us don't and are getting ready...

Well, I wouldn't say it's the first time ever we've had active duty soldiers ready to roll out domestically in times of trouble ;)

It may be the first specially designated Brigade.... but I guess it has to start somewhere. I mean before 9/11 and hurricane Katrina it had been a while since our military was deployed domestically for massive crisis control. I think most people agree Katrina was a disaster in terms of response; I'm thinking they could use the training. :D

I get what you're saying Florida Girl.. I just would have imagined they would have started something like this right away after Katrina if that was the case..

The timing just seems really weird to me...esp. with everything going on economically..

The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.

Other than that, I really don't see anything that would lead me to conclude that there is going to be a declaration of Martial Law.

No offense meant MILF, but I think you might be a little too paranoid.

Besides, d'ya think the government would actually let plans for a military dictatorship being established actually make it out of whatever safe they are stored in?

LOL.... I guess it took them 3 years to put the plan together (typical government bureaucracy).

As for the timing.... I'm not sure anytime over the last few years wouldn't raise suspicion in some minds. War, oil, real estate, economy, presidential election...... hell I fly a lot for work and I can't remember the last time the National threat level wasn't at HIGH "high risk of terrorist attacks".

Who knows what tomorrow brings. Hopefully none of us will ever have to see this Brigade in action :blsmoke::peace:

LOL, no offense taken man..Paranoid a bit? Maybe.. I can't help it, my mommy alarms are going off like crazy right now, past two weeks.... if we get to the end of the year without something major I'll be very very relieved..

I didn't mean by the post that they were saying martial law was going to be declared, just that they're making moves for a build up of troops that would make it much much easier..

If you want to be technical though we've been under a 'declared state of emergency' officially since Sept 11th..so technically we've been under a loose martial law since then.. Bush renewed the declaration just last month I believe.. lemme see if I can digg up that article..

Yup.. there we go..

Ever since Nixon, we have been in some form of Martial law, Revolution from without is impossible. An inside coup is the only way to change power, elections are only "putting lipstick on a pig".

I hear you Med.. every new form of martial law we are put under though just gets progressively worse..

Elections are a farce.. it's not those that cast the ballots that matter, but who counts them..
