Two questions before I start, growing in my closet.

I am about to start my first grow but I have two questions before I start.

First of all, I will be growing in a closet which is about 6 feet tall but only 1.5 feet wide [the closets dimensions are 1'5'' x 1'5'' x 6'3''].
At first the idea was just to grow one plant (not sure which strain yet, but I will get to that later) under a single 400W HPS lamp in a Waterfarm hydroponics system.

Now the first question, and it's regarding what strain to choose. Because this is my first growth an easy to grow strain is my ideal choice, but it has to be mostly Indica (my type of high), another thing for me is the yield, I want to get as many grams possible from this because I won't be able to grow constantly (my job involves travelling from time to time, and I wouldn't be comfortable leaving for a trip when I have an ongoing grow in my house). Is there a strain that you would recommend for me, given the environment it will be growing in? (Tall closet, not that wide though)

Also, since I will be growing under a 400W HPS lamp this will probably require some ventilation, right? Can you recommend ways for my to ventilate my growing closet?

Best regards,
INW.

With an HPS you will probably want a cool tube. It draws most of the heat from the light.
Yes, ventilation is a must when growing. Plants need fresh air and they also need old stale air pulled out of the room.
As for strains, you should go to seed bank websites and they should tell you the type of high, indica/sativa, how long for flowering, how tall it will be, and how difficult it is to grow.

Thanks for the reply. However I was hoping not to have to invest in a cool tube (it's expensive around here), just place fans inside the closet and drill a hole somewhere... And I was kind of hoping for someones personal experience with strains, I have looked at a bunch of strains on the bean selling sites believe me.

a couple of ideas:

you'll get a lot of people saying use as much light as possible but there really is overkill and you've reached it with a 400 watt light in that small a space. if you haven't bought it already, i'd go with a 250 watt hps and it will produce as much light per square ft as the sun (10,000 lumens/sq ft). the 250 will be much easier to cool.

make sure to buy feminized seeds.

it takes four months to grow a plant - can you manage your schedule to not travel for four straight months? a properly set up grow can be left alone for a week with no troubles. invest in a lock for your space.

for your first grow i would choose a strain that's easier to handle -i used carmelicious from http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com/ in my first grow (check out the grow in my signature) and had great results. edit - not sure they have a feminized version

thank you very much for this info, do you think the 250W HPS will do if I would have perhaps two plants ?

as long you're growing in that space the 250 can handle as many plants as you can squeeze in. it's the square footage that matters, not the plants.
