Has anyone else seen that Twenty20 Mendocino has been offering autos for a couple of years now? They look amazing and I ordered a few strains. Whiskey Zulu, Triks, Durban Sunrise, and Glue Sniffer.

So far I tried one, Triks, in my outdoor this year. I had 10 strains from 6 breeders and we had an historic heat wave, and then some strong temperature fluctuations. Two Dutch Passions molded up, two Mephisto strains threw nanners, other plants had various reactions. The Triks had no issues. It did get hit hard by early heat, and that might have impacted its overall size, but it finished well. It was a moderate producer. We'll give it about 60 days in the jars before we sample it.

Yes, @wil2279, they do look amazing. I'm especially interested in the the Whiskey Zulu and think I will order a pack for my next outdoor auto run mid-April 2022. Best of luck with yours! :weed:
That does sound good doesn't it? It was the first strain of theirs I ordered and it was an impulse buy based solely off sent and flavor profile

I too was influenced to try some whiskey zulu..along with twizzlers....to see if this breeder could earn a spot in my perpetual grow...
being a conservative grower of autos and photos, in 2-3 ltr pots...no pushing...just let'em do their thing while just maintaining health...slammed with 700 watts on 12/12....(don't sneer, been doing it this way for over 15 yrs and have seen no practical reason to change.)

Popped 3 WZ....Can't speak to 'auto' or not...after 3 week 24/0 in a veg area, all go to 12/12 in a flower area so everything always flowers...

I'd like it better if the phenos were closer in growth type. 2 better WZ may give up 1.5+ dried flower...1 WZ less.

Popped 3 twizzlers. At 1 month old, I'll delay further observations until....

Let me know how those turn out for you. I'm very curious about the WZ flavors and smell...

Update for Whiskey Zulu... at 55 days. Even grown in my bonzai style and very conservative, all three WZ have done well and are throwing out some nice nuggs. Kinda different but nice. All were topped and nothing else....each reaching 20-22" out of pot. Seems 12/12 may speed up finish..being a med user, I'm precise on maturity when I chop....being hybrids, ya never know which way they lean at certain points. I keep diff jars for diff effects...for the Timothy Leary tribute.
Also.... being a med user, my sensory perceptions of smell/taste were impaired years ago...my GF just says 'stinks' or 'skunk' on everything anyway.
I'll know if they qualify as REAL MEDS in a month or two.

I noticed Great Lake Genetics flyers they sent with last order. They have that breeder on the list but I haven't shopped for them. Great ideas cause you don't have to worry about light leaks with autos in case your room isn't dark enough.

I am not too concerned with light leaks... I'll make sure I don't have any... but where I live I lose electricity probably 10 times each year. Some times may only be for a minute or two. Some times it might be for a few hours or half a day. And autos give me piece of mind that I don't have to worry about a 2 hour power outage messing up my whole grow.

There are battery backup systems like they use on RVs with power converters. Electrical problems would certainly wrack havoc in a photo grow. I think that's one of the reasons I live on a good power grid. They also sell battery backup for computers so you might check that too.⚡

I'm looking at these plants, as i am interested in growing it here coastal MA, USA
Looking at other auto breeders too. It's been a while since I've tried some auto's. I want to try growing something for the ease of it outside and have it mature before we get our budworm and mold season. If anyone's got any good recommendations for outdoor autos that are mold resistant please let me know. I'm looking for something bullet proof haha

Just a side note of my experience (in Oregon, if that makes any difference?): I grew photos for a few years, and each year the budworms got worse until it made growing here not worth the effort. I switched to autos to avoid that and our rainy mold inducing fall weather, and that only half worked.

I thought since the budworms on my photos appeared mostly in late September, that that was the time budworms cycled out. I was wrong. When I timed my autos to finish in August, they were hit with worms as well. It seems the moths know when in the individual plant's flower cycle the right time to lay eggs is, and it is not calendar/time specific, it is plant cycle specific.

Just my experience, your moths might be different than ours. To avoid them completely, I had to start growing under bug netting, which is a whole other thing, but at least with autos they tend to stay around 4' tall making the bug netting easier to manage (I top mine, keeps them more compact).

And as a follow up to my previous post, I mentioned that Triks grew well outdoors, now I can also confirm that it smokes well. Good potent top shelf bud. I will grow it again and hope to try other T20's.
