I would triple check with the ones that aren't, as the standards are very hard to meet without irradiation.
I'm against it on principle, but I will say that I read extensively into cold pasteurization and other types of irradiation and I'm convinced it's actually a non-issue for anything other than possibly losing some flavours and scents.

losing flavours and odors is a huge problem though. That means the terpenes have been lost or altered and that means a good portion of the medicinal value has been lost, depending on what condition(s) cannabis is being used for. Personally i feel they either need to loosen the guidelines or make it mandatory to destroy crops that don't pass testing. I know I use the Bayer/aspirin analogy a lot but do you think they could sell contaminated aspirin that has been treated with radiation after the fact with a process that alters the acetylsalicylic acid into a less useful form?

I would love to see a side by side test done...to see how much smell and taste is changed.

I'm just saying that everything I'm reading shows that this way of irradiation should be safe to smoke and shouldn't affect medicinal levels, but I'm certainly not as educated as others here.
Obviously I want my sweet blueberry flavour and have no intentions of losing that to irradiation.

I think it is safe.
I do think with the loss of terpenes you will have a loss in taste and pleasure, and maybe even medicinal values...would like to know more for sure.

I'm with you on this one Gmack.. Radiation isn't good.. Like its kind of a no brainer. Since it is so widely used in food production most people think its fine.

Let's look at this logically. Why are people who exercise, don't smoke and eat "healthy" dying from cancer? .....we have no idea what the full process our food goes through before we ingest it, not your average person anyways. And we rarely question it.

I can say I have used both irradiated L.P stuff and non irradiated L.P stuff. While both were pretty bad, the irradiated buds had absolutely no smell at all, even when you broke it up and when burnt it smelled like burning plant matter and was super harsh even though it had a nice white ash. The non irradiated stuff from Tilray had some odor left and when it burned it smelled like weed. I'm not saying I know for sure that it was the radiation for sure but I have never had cannabis that smelled like nothing at all except when I was accidentally sold the zapped stuff from mettrum.

It's good to hear feedback....thanks

Terpenes have quite a few medicinal values: example linalool is terpenoid found in OG kush strains mainly it is an anxiolytic compound that helps counter act anxiety. It is also a strong anticonvulsant and also amplifies serotonin reuptake transmission also acting as an antidepressant.

Beta-caryopyllene is a sesquiterpene found in many herbs including cannabis. This sesquiterpene has gastro-protective properties good for the treatment of certain types of ulcers also has shown great promise in the treatment of autoimmune disorders. Just to name a few terepens and some of there medicinal values.

Peace

Delta 9 irradiates some of their strains if need be. I've tried both....don't see any difference with smell and effect. I was worried the irriadated buds would have no smell or taste but doesn't seem that way to me.

C Pine Skunk X Jack One of the two skunkiest clones in our production stable, the pine skunk is a favourite among smokers. She possesses an exceptionally high THC content, and rich, powerful aroma high in both alpha-pinene and limonene. This is the sleepy bedtime cannabis, knock you down when all else fails cannabis- proven excellent for insomnia, migraine, seizures and pain. High resin-tenacity and overly large captitate stalked trichomes makes hash making difficult, but makes incredibly flavourful extracts and powerful edibles. Why would you want to irradiate this wonderful plant?makes me laugh...

Hey Johny, I didn't expect to read that. Can you remember the strain that you were able to compare?

Don't really remember what strains I got from them that where zapped...and what wasn't...when I first heard they had to irradiate I was kinda pissed...thinking the buds would bland with less smell and effect. But after getting several different strains....like I said before....I'm not really noticing any Difference... So I stopped asking. But don't get me wrong.... I would prefer if none of the buds got zapped.

I pretty sure their motivation, Kings kush and white rhino to name a few weren't irradiated.

It would be interesting to try buds from same strain and harvest. But one being irradiated and the other not. Then you could really compare
