Turn 17 plants into 1 loophole?

I got to thinking I have done a few fruit tree grafts with great results and was wondering if I potted 17 plants side by side and was able to notch and fuse one branch on each side of the plant to the plant next to it And repeat the process all the way down the row essentially turning 17 plants into one plant would this make a nice loophole for growing in states with small plant count restrictions?

sounds like the technical answer is yes, but to support that legally would take commitment. you would need to document with solid proof that the plants were in fact fused and living, not just taped/glued together. I know its possible, I've seen it done, but the chances of pulling so many grafts off in such a short window of a plants life cycle seems low. keep in mind, LEO wouldnt be interested in preserving the delicate grafts when they come and rip them all out. definitely not something i would wager years of my life on anyway.

short answer, its possible yes, but impractical, unrealistic, and risky.

i wouldn't do this. it might seem like one plant to you, but the D.A. is going to see 17 stems going into the ground, ....those fuckers never have a sense of humour.

and i have some experience grafting fruit trees, visajoe is right, it would be practically impossible to get 17 successful grafts at one time, when the plants are young, and still have extensive growth ahead of them. grafting one branch to one plant is easy, grafting 17 to 17 not so easy, if they grow at different rates, you're either going to break your grafts, or grow plants that are all humped over and stretched out of shape

Each plant would still have its own root mass yes? If so, I'm sure they would take that into effect and count each root system as 1 plant.
I only say this because cannabis plants don't grow up then back into the ground and up again.
If you could remove the root mass/main stem(going into the ground) after grafting I'd say go with it :)
