Trying to Read some Good Books

I am in the middle of reading "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck and its a great book. I like the pics Big P, its funny I went to York Univ.

Tom Clancy Rainbow Six, classic.

Malcom Gladwell...Blink...it's about first impressions and split second thinking.

My father created the best book of all TIME! It's called the Holy Bible. I highly suggest you check it out.

Nice to see some recommended reading material.

A few that I've read in the past that I'd recommend.

1. Brian Greene's Elegant Universe - Talks about string theory in layman's terms. Most of it is still beyond my comprehension but Greene manages to make the gist of what he's talking about understandable.

2. Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea - Small book basically examining the concept of the number zero and it's history as an idea.

The Elegant Universe has a documentary series that does an excellent job of illustrating the ideas behind string theory.

I love reading although I read SF and I hope to travel to the Ringworld someday

Botany of Desire by Michal Polland

The books talks about how plants have evolved over time to adapt to their sourroundings and how marijuana ais one of the smartest plants because it adapted to attract us.

he also wrote Omnivores Dilema: The Natural History of Four Meals, its like Food Inc on steroids

Wow I did not know that. I read the book almost 10 years ago and have since reread it along with Hawking's A Brief History of Time.

I'm really interested in the book comparing Rome with modern day U.S. It's definitely on my "to read" list as of now.

There's another book I've read that might be interesting as well but I forgot the name and will have to find it when I get home. The book basically talks about how our communications systems (ie. facebook, cell phones, texting, etc.) have all improved yet modern society is seen to be increasingly distant from one another.

Plants definitely have some sort of intelligence factor. They arent just inanimate objects. That thought about the evolution of the marijuana plant is brilliant. Reading that sentence has opened up a new void in my mind.

You know what, enco, Ive had that idea in my mind for a long time. The development of all this social networking really is a powerful thing. We are learning so much about one another through our computer screen, that we rarely take time anymore to interact in person. What I think could happen though, is like-minded people that meet online or have developed relationships online through facebook etc will be a more productive acquaintances in person. They have gotten the superficial interests out of the way, and can move to deeper, more meaningful relationships. I think people use social networking all wrong.
Its insane to think about, our world is changing dramatically, and fast.
