Trying to Identify Strain

Here is a pic of my baby. First time grower. Have 4 beautiful plants, but this one has me really excited for harvest time, as I believe it is a female and will yield some prime buds!! Growing in Wisconsin.20180704_065936.jpg

Any ideas on strain, or do I have to wait for flowering?

It's still going to be a crap shoot even when you see the buds. Very difficult if not impossible to tell the strain. Short of dna, just enjoy it for what it is. If you like it clone so you can keep it.

All seeds are different even in the same strain.... some will show more Indica or more Sativa than the other.... if it's a hybrid, most are.

you might be able to narrow it down to a percentage of indica and sativa, but there are SO many "strains" now there's no way to do anything but guess

just looking at it i'd guess 60/40 sativa/indica.....indicas don't usually grow upwards like that, but those sure as shit aren't sativa leaves

Thanks everyone! I am really proud of this first plant. Whatever I get out of it, it will be worth it. Just happy that I actually have anything at all first time around. My Jamaican neighbor is excited about this one specifically, so at a minimum I have his knowledge to give good karma to my baby! He suggested topping it off a few days ago, and it has really started to fill out since.

BT,
Hey dude...plant is looking good. So this was a bagseed?
You need to learn about flowering, preflowers and such if you wish to bring it to completion.

If it's a male...please chop so that you don't contaminate downwind crops.

Yep. Bagseed. Thanks!

I am studying up on everything. Luckily I have been gardening for years, so I can identify stress and it's causes very well. But I am getting nervous about gender and maximizing my harvest from any females I have. My Jamaican neighbor has my back...dude has his own crop going. As soon as we confirm any males in my crop, they be gone!

I am definitely staying on top of things like a new daddy!!

Good luck on the grow.

You already have a head start having an understanding of plants. I started growing weed after I had a vegetable garden for a few years.

Get a close up of the top node (with 2 fan leafs), it looks like it could be showing sex but the pix is not close enough to tell. Nice looking plant there, it's going to be awhile before you see buds if it's female.

Looks like you will know for sure in a week or so but it's looking male to me. For what it is worth I have a dinafem critical+2.0 that looks almost identical to your plant in every way when it was that size but that still means nothing to you. Truth is without dna you will never know.

BT,
Can't comment on gender. I have old eyes and I never trusted pre-flowers anyway. But did want to suggest that your best guess for strain might come from actually smoking it once it's finished. Then you'll have more info: what the buds/colas look like, type of high, scent, taste, ceiling to high. All that stuff.
