Trying to add co2

Looking for a good recipe for adding co2 to the air in my box. found 2 recipes, calling for baking soda and vinager. The other calls for yeast sugar and water. The yeast sugar and water seems easier. But any ideas or amounts for the mixture?

Just get a source of fresh air to em (I crack a window)

there is no DIY CO2 generator that out performs fresh air ! :eyesmoke:

yeast and sugar is better than vinager and baking soda but both are not that great.... thing to do 5 pounds corn meal 5 pounds sugar 5 pounds yeast 5 gal. water... bring 5 gallons water to a boil add cornmeal for 5 min. let cool add sugar and yeast in 5 gal bucket with lid poke hole in lid run tubing from lid to closed jar of water run hose from jar to plants. shake bucket every 3 days until bubling in water stops, about 10 days. pour off liquid and distille, alcohal boils at 172 degrees drink alcohal 180 proof corn wiskey good luck

Its cold where im at. And in a closet.
Cold where I'm at as well still crack a window and adjust the heat accordingly, heat set to 78 and grow room temp at 72. Sure it cost a bit to run the heat more but I'm about giving my girls what they want :bigjoint:

Alright, Thanks. So 5 lbs cornmeal and 5 gals water boiled for 5 mins. Then put that mixture in the 5 gal bucket? Let cool and add 5lbs surgar and yeast? put a lid on, poke a whole in lid for a tub to the jar of water, from the gar of water poke a whole for tubes to the plants. now do i put that tube from the jar to the dirt of the plants?
Take the liquid from the mixture after 10 days, put in oven at 173f?
After i take the liquid from the mixture after 10 days do i start over or does it continue producing?

it is not the best way to get co2 but if your gonna try the yeast and sugar methode you may as well get something out of it:hump: maybe if you upped it to a 55 gallon drum you would produce the co2 you really need and a bigger still wiskey is so much funner and easier than wine you just ferment it and boil off the good stuff in england they sell a cool little distiller that sits on your kitchen counter and plugs in to the wall

think i would stick to building my own still... for the purest product you dnt want to go above 180f be sure to use lead free solder whan building a still pack the main stack with copper mesh, you can get it in the kitchen cleaning section at the store,

Thanks. But this wont help the plants much? I am going to try to make a still and get this alcohol from it but it seems dangerous. Would not want to end up blind.

hmm, sure a few sprays every now and then from a Co2 fire extinguisher would work? a friend of mine Used this method but I never got to see the effect.

You might look into just getting a tank and doing it the right way because I think it should cost around $100 more or less. Most places have a tank exchange where you buy the tank and then get it refilled, if you own the tank the refills are between $10 - $15 depending on tank size. The biggest cost is the tank and you can get regulator for about $25 unless you want an electrical one.

It's just a though because it isn't complicated or hard to do to get a tank like most people think, I believe TSC has co2 tanks so it might be easy just to go there or a welding shop, a welding or gas shop will be able to sell you a used tank so you can save money that way or just do the exchange program.

All I'm saying is by the time you do it yourself you'll usually end up spending more time, the same amount of money and get worse results. Although someone will chime in and say they did it all for free with stuff around the house.

Just something to think about.
