We will see how eager Alvin is to hold Trump until trial when they arraign him for a plea and it comes time for the judge to bail or jail him. Donald is gonna be pissed at all the vicious nasty things the prosecutors will say about him when his lawyer looks for bail and they will take all three of his passports away, just because he owns a private jet and has foreign contacts! Like I said, in light of what Doanld has said and the torrent of death threats the prosecutors have documented he might be lucky to make bail and if he does, he will sweat for it and be muzzled.

I think pj and pads are correct that desantis could/would be a credible threat, but I think desantis is blowing it. He's fighting with trump for the hearts and minds of the crazies. In doing that, he paints himself into a corner and isn't going pull the independents or moderate republicans that left.
Quite the catch22 though, you have to win with the crazies to get through the primary. Moderates got pushed out so the crazy folks now decide who goes go the show.

Desantis is very intelligent. While I disagree with a lot of his politics, I do think that he's a lot smarter intellectually than either Biden or Trump. It seems to me that all he has to do is sit back and let Trump ruin himself, and let Biden make repeated fax pas; unless of course, the Dems come up with someone viable.

No he'll be in his fancy jet posting on Truth Social and raising money. The Manhattan DA isn't the one that decides. It's a Judge that will be making any decisions. The DA brings a case before a court. A Judge presides over it. The DA's job is done until they go to trial. He can make recommendations and requests but ultimately it's up to a Judge regarding any bail, conditions of bail, gag order, etc...
