yes, and i would agree with you if we were talking about a normal person. but trump isn't a normal person.....he hates the press, but craves their attention....it drives him to distraction if he's not in the news. he has to claim they're liars to support his own lies...and i'm not sure he remembers they are lies, anymore.
he's not a very smart man. he ignores briefings, and the opinion of experts whose only job is to offer him advice about things he doesn't know a damn thing about...but he assumes he knows as much or more than them....for no reason but his own delusions of adequacy. don't imagine he can formulate and carry out a plan of any intricacy....his idea of political maneuvering is shutting down the government right after the holidays to get a useless symbol of his useless administration funded.
i don't think the press has to worry about being manipulated by him....if they were smart about it, they could ALL easily meet before and after press conferences and decide on a list of questions that they would all get the answers to, and they all print the same thing....trump handled....if he stops giving press conferences at all....GOOD....and no one suffers, they all have the same amount of coverage....
and now baby donald understands..like a house of cards.

In its last print edition, El Nacional noted that the Maduro regime has closed or forced editorial changes on at least 99 radio and TV stations and 33 newspapers, and legally prosecuted more than 50 journalists.
she's probably the first successful 'no' he's listened to- but not really..he knows if he shows, no one else will; the doors will be locked, lights off..he'd look pretty stupid showing for no party.

Yes Maduro is a thug. Yes he's subverted a free press. Yes he's shut down a branch of government.
That does not give the US the right to call for a civil war.
There's a right way and a wrong way and this was as hamfisted as it gets.
This is going to be another war for oil; 300 billion barrels in reserves, that's several trillion dollars depending on spot prices.

The lack of foreign policy in some areas has allowed various countries to "help" countries. Right now Africa and south and central Americas is seeing a large influx of Chinese and Russian money. We know the Russians will try and control elections etc. as we have as well. The Chinese not so much. They usually just buy/trade with various regimes no matter what beliefs. We have filtered our view of the world through a filter of religion and greed. Some societies value other things than money. But as the worlds few gets richer and resource pressure increases the poor will be the ones that suffer. We have failed in foreign policy.

I think what I said was Trump is attacking the media and trying to weaken it using the same tactics Putin does. If I didn't say that at first, then let me correct myself. Trump is using Putin's tactics and having an affect if not the same magnitude that Putin is having.

There are valid reasons why 11 of the 14 nations in the Lima Group -- the Latin America regional bloc -- claim that Maduros election was illegal. The US, France, Germany, Spain and Canada have all said the same. The issue is coming before the United Nations.
Very histrionic of you to say the "US calls for a Venezuelan Civil War". But no, we didn't say that. We, along with practically all Latin American Countries and many others, said Guaido is the legitimate leader. Trump is inept and invalid as Prez. Still on this issue the US is not wrong nor is it alone.
Should the US intervene militarily? Nope, I'm not saying that.

i don't think he is....i think trump's attempts are totally ineffective and simply give the press more negative stories to print about him.....in russia, the press knows that putin will actually make them fucking dead if they piss him off enough....that's not going to happen here.....if a reporter gets killed here for negatively reporting about trump, the killer will be caught and crucified in short order...and they won't be a trump employ...but they will be a trump supporter...a typical, stupid, ignorant, hateful trump supporter.....
so the press in this country shouldn't be concerned about anything trump does, in my opinion....he has no teeth....all he can do is bark...which in itself is an amusing article to run on page 3....
i understand the tactic....i just do not believe trump is smart enough, ruthless enough, or scary enough to make it come anywhere near to working...you know this website wouldn't exist in russia, and the conversations we've had would be enough to put us all in prison.....but this ain't russia, and trump ain't putin
