Trouble picking a strain for my outdoor grow

Hey guys, this is my first post on this board. I grew outdoors for three seasons using bag seeds with decent results, but this year I decided to order some online and see how it works. I live in pennsylvania and Im having trouble picking a strain for the climate I have two main worries. One being animals are going to get them, which happened in the past. And two, I'm worried they won't flower in time, which also happened before. I plan on sprouting them 2-3 weeks indoors before I take them to my spots. So here are my choices:

From http://www.marijuana-seeds.nl

Mountain Mist
Afghan
Early Mist
Holland's Hope

From http://www.nirvana-shop.com

Bubblelicious
Kaya Gold
Short Rider (heard bad things)
Master Kush

So what do you guys think? I like the profile for the ones from marijuana-seeds.nl but I've heard some bad things about those guys so I dunno. Probably going to stick with something from nirvana.

This is my first "professional" grow and can really use some expert advice. Here are some of my main problems. I had to move back in with my parents after college (damn economy) so I dont have too much room to sprout. I got a rubbermade tote about 2 feet deep that I installed a cheap 18" flourescent bulb to the lid. My parents really don't snoop and really don't care but it's just something Id rather them not knowing. I live in Pennsylvania and the last frost is usually mid to late april, so I figure if I start them in the tote over in the next few weeks they should be at least 6-8" inches high before a take them out the woods. If I keep the light on 24hrs a day while sprouting then suddenly take them outside will that hurt them at all? Also, I hear some people talking that they don't even START til May and put them outside in early June. What do you think? I dunno where they live but that seems a little late to me.

I live in a small town with fairly thick woods. It's easy for me to find a spot where no one will find them but the light there will be terrible. I also found places with good light and hidden but bad soil! It seems like the 3 big things; soil, light, and stealth, I can only ever find a place that will give me 2 of them, ya know.

When it comes to soil, do I really need to dig a huge hole and add my own? Can you make up for mediocre soil by adding the right nutes?

I plan on putting out about 20-30 plants this year in small patches of about 4-6 plants. Like I said, the woods in my area are pretty heavily traveled but no one really goes off the trail. Do you think it would be worth it to plant in a patch in the middle of nowhere where I know 99% no one will ever find it, but won't good light because of the tree canopy?

Any help would be great man. Out of all the guerilla grows I've seen yours seems to be one of the best so I figured I'd ask for your input.

thanks. Even though it seems like you are a company rep I appreciate it. I've never been on that site before.

Ive had good luck and have heard of many other people having good luck with attitude seeds. They also carry many many strains from different breeders and also have a seed finder where you can specify the flowering time, growing conditions height etc.

Man it's getting late to start from seed. But hey better late than never.

Ok lets get down to business. You will need a spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight in my opinion. As for the 2 out of 3, Stealth and Light are important, soil can be brought in.

Now another thing to think of is a water source, unless you plan on carrying it in. Take it from me you REALLY don't want to have to do that.

As for soil I STRONGLY recommend bringing in your own. I prefer Pro-Mix but Sunshine mix is a close second. Big holes=Big plants which= lots of buds.

Another thing to take in to acount, you will get out what you put in. Half-ass grows get half ass results. Guerilla grows that I do are very hard work, require alot of sacrifice and dedication. I also work about 50 hrs a weekon top of what I do.

Late? Wow, I thought I was actually ahead of the game, haha. I don' think water will be a problem most of the time, we get plenty of rain in PA. But I am prepared to bring in if I have to if we go through a dry spell.

And suggestions about those strains I posted up top?

Well as far as your strains I have no idea as I've never grown any of those outside. I would try to find something that finishes in sept at the latest. As for when to put them out I wouldn't any earlier than may 7.

And for hauling water, I liquid feed my plants once a week every week through out the season. I also mix in and use some dry organic time release fertilizer.

I always start seeds in jan or feb at the latest so I can sex and take clones of my favorites for the upcoming season. Why waste time and money with unown. I only put out females.

I feel ya. Wish I had the room for an operation like that. Those are the kind of things that separate plants that produce ounces from the ones that produce pounds.

I just ordered 5 feminzed Kaya Golds from Nirvana today.
I got them because they are advertized as hearty and do well under less than ideal conditions. I'm in the south and it can get hot.
If you search kaya gold on her there is a guy who had some pictures of some plants last july that looked really good. I have pm'd him to see how his grow turned out but have not heard back from him yet.

If you get feminzed seeds you're not too late. We can still get frost in the south into april.

I've read mostly good stuff on here about Nirvana, I'll let you know when I get my seeds.

I'm going to grow my in 5 gallon pots, so I can't say much to your soil questions, but from what I've read, you need to dig holes and add potting soil.

Yeah I have it narrowed down to Kaya Gold and two others. The prob is I only have $50 US to spend (visa gift card) so I don't know if I can afford the fem seeds. Also, I hear they tend to go hermie if they are stressed, but I dunno. There is so much info out there I dunno what to believe.

I have never had much luck with fem seeds. I prefer regular so I can breed it myself and keep the seed companies out of my pocket.
I hear that.
I don't have a lot of experience, I've only purchased seeds online once before, and I got some femized auto flower AK-48. 4 out of 5 germinated and they were all female.
I've sent Alice a message and I'm hoping they will send me some extras for the one that didn't germinate.

Well, I just ordered the regular Kaya Gold but Im a little confused. They say it tends to be a hybrid and is more on the sativa side, but finishes early and flowers 8/9 weeks. Aren't sativas usually late bloomers?
I read one of the reviews and he said his werent ready til early October. Althought he said he didnt put them out til late June if that makes a difference..

Oh well, guess it's too late now. Still got about 20-30 bag seeds to fall back on.

yooo dude i live in penn too.. look i personally buy from nirvana or attitude this year im growing 7 swiss cheese and 15 autoflowering plants.. im gonna tell you what grow autos instead this way you plant in mid april and harvest before august! or you could harvest multiple crops.. get the lowlife AK 47 auto from attitude pricey but good and get some short riders and if your gonna do regualr sized marijuana grow swiss cheese its perfect for PA.. kaya gold grows really tall. you could also grow master kush. me personally i like autos cuz they are small under 14" and grow one main bud thats usually 1oz per plant outdoors sometimes a little more or less. but yeah with the autos you can literally but them anywhere.. like beside roads lol in the woods in your damn backyard since they are soo small there is even some lowryders that grow super small like under 12 inches! my advice plant some autos in april... then plant some more in may/june harvest first batch in early july.. then harvest the rest in late august. and ofcourse i have my swiss cheese which i will harvest after these lol alot of buuudd

yeah dude you shouldnt have gotten the kaya it grows tall and harvests later than usual but its cool buy more seeds remember the more seeds you plant the more pot you can ultimately smoke lol 40 year old virgin

Weird thing happened when I tried to order those Kaya Gold from Nirvana. My order wouldn't go through for some reason. When I hit the "confirm order now" I would get an error msg. I emailed them about it and they said they recieved a few emails about it and told me to try a different browsers. I just upgraded to Windows 7 so maybe it had something to do with that, I dunno, but by then I got impatient and ordered something different from somewhere else. I got a mix pack that contains Master Kush, Top 44, Skunk #1, and some possible others. It seemed like a pretty good deal so I went with it. With that I had a enough $ left on my card to get a Low Girl auto to try out. I heard mixed reviews about those auto flower strains so I wanted to try one out before I went with a whole pack since they seem kinda expensive.

When do you put them out in PA? I'm thinking last week of April or first week of May?

No sooner than May 7 IMO. I have put plants out in mid April and had them start to flower. They revert back to veg but you lose time and growth, not to mention they grow a little fucked up for awhile.

Best thing to do is grow them inside till they are at least a foot tall, I usually put mine out at about 18-24 inches if at all possible. This way they will be able to take some abuse/nibbling anything. You put out a seedling and one slug could just wipe it out.
