This topic has probably been booted around on this forum dozens of times, but I thought we'd give it another go.

What do you guys/gals use for trimming? I've tried every scissor known to man, and I find a good pair of hair scissors to be the best.

I typically go through the plant about a week prior to harvest and thin out the fan leaves by hand .... picking off any dying leaves and large fan leaves. Once they're ready to chop, I further thin the plant out by hand removing any remaining fan leaves and any sugar leaf that doesn't have a good amount of resin on it. Then I take the hair scissors to it while it's fresh, and give it a good manicure. I like to water the plant the night before to ensure that my leaves are all fully erect (:-)) and the stems are easily accessible. Plants that are bone dry are a pain in the balls to trim due to the droopy leaves.

Any of you ever used any of the industrial power trimmers? Is the juice worth the squeeze? I've heard those just don't do a good job of getting in tight to the bud and leaving a nice finished product.

I like to hang upside down overnight even before I trim a it makes it easier for me.
I attack them from the underside after they droop.

But I so suck at everything in that dept. so don't do what I do.

Great video's online for this one.
I use titanium trimmers for fan leaves and larger growths and then this easy-trim palm/thumb trimmer to shape each nug up.

I think trimming wet is easier, just do it all at once and rush through it really...If you have a lot then rent a bowl trimmer or buy one.

I hang to dry after removing the fan leaves. Then hand manicure once the sugar leaver get crispy. at that point, they go in the drying net for a day or two..then paper bag..then bottles.

For smaller harvest I use Fiskars spring action scissors... Then for bigger harvest I bust out the SpinPro.

Agreed, any strain I can hang I love. Just some have a leaf ratio that is outta control. Tangerine Dream being one of them that takes forever to trim...If it has a high leaf to bud ratio, best doing soon as you chop it down well they are still sprung perky and looking for light....I use the Gro-pro trimmers. they are green. The Fiskars spring is to low in between the handles vs the gro-pros and always break. Make sure you have a straight razor to clean them daily. and try not to needle nose the buds too much, use the full length of trimmers and look at each bud as bonsai, you are shaping it more or less to cure the way it is.

Theses have been hanging since Suday. Tomorrow I'll trim the sugar leaves and bag them. (the pic is fresh cut)

I use the rim of my buckets or a wire hanger to dry my big buds then the nets they sell are pretty much only good for drying the little popcorn nuggets.

I trim everything before I hang them to dry. It's easier to do it after the sugar leaf is dried... I just found the taste to be sweeter the quicker I got all the fan and or sugar leaf off the plant ASAP. I like to use the straight edge and curved scissors.. be better to have even a third pair for the very small leaf around the prize nuggest...( I don't care for any sugar leaf on my nuggets personally)..

i take off the fans leaves and hang them for 14-21 days depending on the strain the trim sugar leaves and and break it all down into nugs and put in jars... i used to trim everything wet but i feel the smell and flavor are a little stronger trimming it dry.. also i can get it done quicker trimming the sugar leaves dry than fresh (however im sure many people may disagree with that but for ME its quicker)

if you have a compost bucket where you throw all the other stuff chop the stuff in there up with your scissors or trimmers, the enzymes and bactiria will instanly eat away all the thc and resin leaving you with un-sticky scissors/trimmers to work with. just sterilize and your good to go(i know how tough it can be to use scissors after a while even if your cleaning them)

I found it easier to just drop it off at my trimmers house in the morning. And pick up trimmed bud in the evening. One of the advantages to running a caregiver services business.

I've found fresh to be easiest/fastest. Next is dried leaves with still moist buds. Or all dry and just use your fingers to break the leaf off.

Personally I do not care for spinnpros or power trimmers. I've put lots of time n treasure into my gurls to put them thru that.

I wish I had that much trust in people to bring over my entire harvest and let them trim it. But i just know if I were to do that I would be missing a zip or three.

I invite my patient over and put a set of shears in her hands. We take off all the fan leaves and then clip off the buds and use a drying rack for a week. I then jar up dried buds and remove some now and then(whenever I have time) to rip off the sugar leaves by hand.

The fan leaves are dumped on a large flat piece of card board to dry.

Hmmmm, I'll have to try removing the sugar leaves when they're dry. I've found in the past that they're a little tougher to trim once they dry because they tend to curl up in to the bud and are tougher to get at. Maybe I didn't let them dry enough though, because it does make sense that once they are crispy you could pretty much remove them by hand.

Certainly is a tough issue. TRUST..but hey miss a zip or three...miss a trimmer or three...pigs will eat anything ;)

these are pros. if I don't use em and trust em how could I sell their services to you? They get lots of bennies, trim, butter buds, etc. They also bake and make other goodies, which get moved for free to those who need it. the topless part is just a bonus

never cut any leaves off there the plant fuel...

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you on that, except that once they are a week away from being done I feel that the flower "push" is over, and the buds are pretty much as big and ripe as they will get (as evidenced by the leaves starting to yellow and die off), so I see no harm in removing a good portion of the fan leaves at this point.
