Trimming fan leaves

Would i be able to trim of some fan leaves whilst my plants are in 2 weeks veg or will it damage my plants?
Jorge Cervantes on pruning = "KEEP THE LEAVES ON" as they are full of plant food. Other folks argue that the light penetration would be grater and allow lower branches to flourish. Some folks say keep your canopy even and lolly-pop the plant (lower branches).

It's all a preference my friend. Trial and error.

Personally I would not touch anything in veg, last week of veg I trained and pruned a little on this last grow.

I say LST tying down or use a tomato cage is your best bet for now if you are unsure.

Trimming fan leaves is a controversial subject at best and often heated arguments erupt but many supporters implement trimming for ventilation improvements
Maybe you could provide more details and pic of your grow
BTW: not many would consider trimming at 2 weeks old, are there other issues?

Let me guess, you have a whole whack of yellow leaves and you want to cut them off so you're not reminded of your previous blunders

Why did the plant grow the leaf?
I know the answer. You remind me of Riddleme3 by asking him that question. Lets see if he is ambitous enough to do the research to know why. We are not being prickish by not telling you. we want you to do the research. You may just learn a few other things along the way. Happy growin and learnin. :bigjoint:

You dont need to trim fan leaves. If they are worthless to the plant, the plant will use them and they'll die and fall off by themselves. The only time u want to cut the plant is if your training it, or Lolipopping before flowering.

in veg I usually never need to trim fan leafs . only if they are hitting each other or hitting the soil or pot what ever your using . and trim the lower very bottom branches off the ones that would only make pop corn buds. and throw them into flower 2 weeks in its time to trim the pop corn bottom branches off again. and week 3to 4 as soon as they get about 1/2 inches around im back to trimming the bottom branches off again pop corn buds forming. and most of my fan leafs are being removed in my set up each plant will have 6 to 10 tops and place up with bamboo poles and zip ties to hold branches up . and I pack 6 plants under a 600 watt light . . and super cropped . commercial grower style . but for personal smokers with a few plants there is no need to trim those leafs off your getting a lot or light to that one plant and your not concerned about all out yields

things to rem . most of the books out there how to grow are old books. growing weed only has been legal so long. so the ways to grow and get bigger yield has changed greatly. with limited light indoors you need to get the light to buds . in the direct sun shine like the books were written about with a powerful sun beaming down. things are different .indoors. we don't have that much light. best thing to do is try both ways trim one don't trim the other . and weight both of them dry and next time you will know the direction to take I have already have done this . major increase in yields trimming fan leafs

I dont have any yellow leaves or anything i was just wondering because some of the big fan leaves are leaning ontop of each other and when i lift the top one up there is water on the leaves and was just wondering if it would rot the leaves?
Here is a picture of them afghan kush which is my first time trying to lst

I think you should wait until the plant reaches flowering. If you stress it during veg, it could slow the growth which means missing out on some good bud on those colas.

I am just going to leave them and put some more fans blowing on them to stop the water underneath the leaves and then put some netting up when i switch them to flower so they are spreaded out more

Get a fan on em, It will solve that problem quick. :-P
You want complete movement of air over your canopy other wise you will continue getting water on your leaves.

A six inch fan is not good enought for this size setup. I would go a little bigger, make sure it oscillates and be sure to check all your leaves get a little shake when the air crosses them.

As for trimming leaves, I don't cut off anything during veg at all. After 3 weeks of flower I remove the bottom 3 rd of the plant along with any fan leaves that are directly blocking a bud site. Good luck.
