IMHO, it depends on your situation....the important factors are the size of the plant and your humidity levels

I'll hang the whole plant if the plant is small....if the plant is large, I'll hang each branch individually..... if medium sized, I'll use a half & half approach

If I'm dealing with high humidity, I'll trim all the leaves on day one, don't want to risk mold......if I'm in a dry environment, I'll leave leaves on until limp dry

I live In The southwest with a desert climate. Humidity is usually between 15 to 25%. I put a humidifier in my walk in closet and set it at 60%. I pre trim my buds and hang them in drying racks. I keep them in there with fans to circulate the air for 2 weeks then vacuum seal the bud. Always has good flavor and comes out quality.

I clip a few branches off the plant at a time so i can trim everything while it is still wet and so i can let the lower branches keep growing. Then i cut the stems into 3 or 4 bud sections so they are easier to work with. I let the trimmed stems lay on a screen a few days then clip the buds off the stem and burp them in the jar or put in a paper bag to dry slower.

I I tried hanging the whole plant once but most of it dried out before i could finish triming it and to me its much harder to trim dry because everything clumps up and sticks together.
