i trimed alot of leaf and lower branches off my last outdoor grow,it did seem to stun the plant, but only for few days ,i did it 3 or 4 times,i did get 6 oz of ass kicking buds, off a 24 inch tall the largest weighing 20 grams dryed, and cured,so i cant say what effect it had on quality as this stuff kicks,,however,i also dont know what would have happened had i not trimmed,I will comment that after harvest when i later layed the five gallon bucket on its side and slowly worked out the root ball,i noticed that after the last transplant from 3 to 5 gallon at about 10 weeks old,,the root ball had not grow at all into the new soil around the original 3 gallon root ball,so id have to say,it def discouraged root growth into the larger size bucket,it grew about 8 more weeks in the same root area, that being said,i wont trim much on my current grow, and see what happens this time, peace!
