Trim Question

jj, I'd like to know more about how you make your hash. Don't want to hijack this thread but could you elaborate more on what you use and how you use it. Do you dry your trim before freezing? I prefer the kief type of hash instead of the BHO and all the oils. You can PM me if you think it would be better. Thanks.

No this is good place....I prefer kief & bubble to BHO & oils also. It's a really simple process to make dry ice kief. It comes out best with very dry trim. Freeze the trim before you start. All you need is a piece of silkscreen (I use 100mic bubble bag) and a plastic bucket & lid. Cut the center out of the bucket lid so you can stretch the screen across the bucket & hold it in place with the lid/ring. You can buy 3-4 lbs dry ice at many grocery stores. Brake the dry ice into chunks & put in the bucket with a couple of lbs of your frozen trim. Put the screen & lid on. Shake up and down for 2-3min, then turn the bucket over and shack out your kief onto a clean dry surface. It only takes a few minutes to cover a table with fine blond kief. you can do this anywhere. I brought the bucket & some dry ice to the last BBQ & made kief at the campground......be careful bro this shit will be Fire!

Sounds great. Thanks. I've only gotten small amounts using a grinder with a screen in it. It came out very good using some excellent bud. Always wanted to try do a lot of trim, finally got the perfect chance coming up this year. Ill do your method and hopefully get some pics up in a about a month.

no reason you couldn't do this with a canning jar & lid ring............good luck.....P.S. don't forget to wear gloves, dry ice will burn the shit out of you....

@doublejj.... What do you do with that keif once you jar it? I have seen lots of folks compress it, but it looks like you just jar it up and keep it powdery. Im in the home stretch of my first grow, I've got three 5-6 footers and five 2-3 footers. Hoping for three to four lbs of bud, don't know how much trim to expect as I've never done this before. However i think your method would be viable with any amount of trim. But another question I have for you is that emphasize that the trim needs to be dry. So do you leave what will become the trim on the buds to dry, or do you trim while wet and dry the trim separately? If you trim while wet, and then dry your trim, would placing the trim on a screen (like the screen from a screed door or window) to dry be a viable idea? Thanks for any insight.

I usually just use kief as a topper for vaporizer loads......but sometimes just for grin's I like to press hash pucks. I use a roll of nickles & a piece of plumbing pipe. I put 1gr between each nickel & stack them in the pipe. I can press 4-5 at a time. look closely you can see Jeffersons Monticello......they make great x-mas stocking stuffers.

That's a cool idea with the nickels and stuff. But do you dry the trim with and on the bud and cut it off before you jar for the cure, or do you trim it wet and dry separately? Or does it matter? Seems like it would be easier to trim while wet.

it really doesn't matter weather you trim dry or wet, but the trim you use for dry ice hash must be dry.....very dry.....and pre frozen......and break the dry ice into ice cube size pieces......try not to over shake it.....when you see the first tint of green, stop shaking!.....good luck. If you do it this way, it's the best stuff I've seen........fire hash!......

I'd just scrape every so often..I wouldn't take the chance.
