Trim leaves, not calyxes. Calyxes are the flower part.

Trim but keep the leaves, then extract the THC that's on them somehow to make a concentrate.

Some prefer to just leave them on, but it will make for a harsher smoke and you don't get the fun bonus of concentrates. :) Why smoke all that extra leaf matter? And concentrates get you torn up.

Yeah I second the trim but keep the leafs.I like to trim my buds way down so there as little leaf as possible, and with the trim I have left over I use to make butter or even smoke in my vape from time to time.It tastes pretty damn decent out of it and isnt harch. And it has more then enough potency to give you some good solid hits.but for the most part I recommend using them for has or baking. But hey not everyone has bud like that so maybe you will wanna save it for a dry day.I know alot of people will argue that trimming your buds down so clean is wasting alot of thc but I dont mind it as it dont burn as hot,Plus when you trim EVERYTHING off you get a crazy chunk of Scissor Hash and that is my favorite smoke in the world!!! I smoke it with my friends and some of them get so light headed they think there gonna pass out lol And I have had one friend hit it,stand up and fall flat out stiff as a board to the floor then get up and say "wow" lmao. Hard for me to get to "that point" much anymore...damn it lol,I get some wicked body highs though laying down to go to sleep.Feels like Im floating or hovering in bed!
But goodluck and great adventures man! everything about the herb plant kicks ass!

Good call Beazy... leaves in the vaporizer is a decent alternative as well!!

My first batch I trimmed really lightly because I dried first then trimmed and had a hard time telling where the leaves end and where the buds begin. (Dense leaves, and not great lighting or great eyes) So rather than overtrim and end up with a bunch of bud in my shake, I opted to trim lightly and leave a lot of leaf on.

This time, I trimmed before drying, got WAY more of the leaves as a result, (in addition to being able to see better, you can spread apart the fresh nugs with your thumb to get deeper in and trim out the leaves from the stem) and I got some nice pretty nugs that hopefully will smoke a lot smoother than the first batch after a bit of a cure.

BUT... to be honest... the first batch wasn't harsh at all... a nice slow dry and a couple weeks of cure had them pretty smooth, leaves and all. It's a tough call. I like to leave SOME leaves on, because a) it's hard to trim every single one, b) it's not a huge difference iether way, and c) I like to stuff a few leaves in the bottom of a bowl and then fill the bowl with the kief I got from the rest of the leaves. XD I usually just pull a couple sugar leaves out of the midst of whatever bud I'm working through and use them.

Yeah I trim way down mainly for personal visual appeal aswell ad the extra trim and scissor hash.Yeah I trim my buds wet cause like you said, its just way easyer to get down in the bud and is more easly told apart.Plus when its dry the crystals are more brittle and seem like the would wanna fall off eayer. And I have never shed a tears over a few crystals but everything counts! And yeah I know I can catch alot of slack for saying this but man vaping it really isnt all that bad! dont taste bad or give you a headache and will get you damn stoned.

Or if you're feeling real lazy... keep the leaves, dry them out, grind them to powder.

Lightly toast two slices of bread, butter one side of each generously (the THC binds well to fat, makes you higher cos it's absorbed better). To the butter pour a gram-ish of your ground up leaf material, then put some cheese slices on top (the good shit) and put her under the grill. When the cheese is fully melted make a sambo outta both slices and eat up.

You'll have 45mins to an hour, and it'll come in some pretty heavy waves :D

It's more of a personal choice if you ask me. I don't really mind the dank lookin frosty leaves, and if you don't plan on keeping it for yourself it adds a little weight.
