Hey all,
So, I was going to try to grow until full size, then take off the tops and let the bottoms fill out for another week, but I ran into a problem, after a couple of months the bottom leaves naturally fall off as the flowers get bigger and put more energy into the them. So, while the girls are in veg is it just better to cut the bottom crap right off so they have more energy to grow up top? Thanks!

ya some people do what is called "thinning" it's cutting off the lower 4 branches since they are weak and farthest from the light and won't produce much

From what I understand, you do not want to take off the fan leaves since they gather light and produce food for plant. I have seen folks say the exact opposite. I am of the opinion that you shouldn't cut it since that is the most natural life cycle for the plant.

Yup, cut the branches from the lower air zone of the plant right before placing them into a pre-flowering cycle or 12h/12h. If you dont use a pre-flowering cycle then right before they go into the flowering cycle :)

Basically, I call this the number 9 method, which consist of leave the head of the plant and 8 branches.

It depends on the type of grow you are doing. If you are doing a vertical style grow than leave the lower branches on the plants. But if you are doing a screen grow you would need to cut the lower stuff below the screen off. It all depends on how you are growing.

i prefer the number 7 method, just sayin.. got an OG going and a couple weeks ago i cut like thirteen branches off and left a nice solid seven. but yeah, as far as the thread goes, def cut AT LEAST the bottom 4. peace!
