You need a better glass ...30x -60x is ideal, or better one of those usb microscopes that plug into your pc ...has many other exciting uses like scalping spider mites ...lol etc etc, checking out nematodes too ...lol

Yeah...you need to get in closer. This is what you need to be looking at:

In this picture (which came from Google Images btw) see how some are clear and some are amber?
Pretty pic, but I'd expect more cloudy ones in there too. Strange range- clear..and then amber. Where are all the cloudy heads? I prefer to harvest with mostly cloudy, in a perfect scenario.

I had troubles using my Loupe's when I 1st got them. I bought 3 different ones and almost threw all 3 away.
Thing is, you have to get REALLY close...like actually touching the plant material with your loupe or you just won't see this. Once you get it the 1st time it's like Holy Shit...a whole world going on!

LoL, I must have some super-human go, go-Gadget eyesight because I can Always see trichomes at their present state of ripeness. Maybe it's just the years I've spent growing our beloved ganja and paying attention to details. Peace and happy growing everyone ! :hump:

DSCN0672.JPG Speed Haze, early peak potency. Should have waited for more cloudy trichs, but we needed meds. Never used anything but my eyes to judge ripeness. (Pistils are a helpful indicator) ;)

You must have really good eyes my friend. When I was younger I had 20/15 vision but that time has passed! haha
Thanks bro, I guess that helps. I always watch the pistils carefully, since they are an indicator as to the ripeness of the buds. Here are some more pics, all early-middle peak potency using the "eyeball method" -

DSCN0653.JPG - The Indica pheno, with more cloudy trichs present. If remember correctly, this was very potent and sedating, without any of the haze influence.Strong, knockout Indica, great for an evening smoke :joint:

DSCN0641.JPG Notice the black ant with its' ass up in the air. Lmao, this fool apparently fell mandible-full into a trichome pool ! It was a good death...

I would say the original isn't all that trichy you can tell by how there are areas of only green on the leaves. Sometimes you will see the entire nug covered but it's not trichs and the med wont be that high quality so you do have to look closely.

Seriously those over sugared things aren't always high in THC. But a good firm nug that is cured right wont look that frosty unless under magnification and it will be super high quality. If the effect is strong and long lasting then you know you found a winner.

Here is some Rug Burn OG that is pretty trichy not zoomed in enough to see the quality of the trichs I guess but the effect is there so I think it's a pretty high quality nug:

Every pic that Indicat posted of weed looks way premature to me. That's just my opinion, and I'm not trying to start shit at all.
