trichomes going from clear directly to amber

I gave a buddy some clones of ICE. He has been flowering for 10 weeks now. Last week, it got extremely cold in his growroom.(45 degrees f). His hydro water also got very cold. He bought a heater, now the room is warm, but it took 3 days to get his nute water up to 75f. His plants are snow covered, but most of the trics are clear with a small few having amber heads. None are cloudy. IS this from the cold temperatures, and what should he do?

it may not be from the cold temps... from what i understand, some strains just do that, and also, some never turn amber. it may be a particularly good set of genetics, too!
