Trichome magnification question..

Ok, so I got a really good microscope, and I checked one of my plants. First, I took a very small part of a bud leaf full of resin on top of the plant, then the same thing on one of its branches.

The trichomes are all cloudy and FAT lol.
But my question is, do I have to dig inside the bud and get a trichome image from deep inside there to really see how ripe it is, or is the little bud leaf on the outside suffiecient.

I'm just afraid that the outside parts of the bud would be peaking with thc, while inside it could still be a little early.

Thanks,
happy growinn

thats pretty accurate, and common practice. sometimes a grower will harvest the top buds, then let the bottom buds fatten up before harvesting for the final time.
its really a matter of preference. some chop the whole plant, keep the colas, and make hash out of everything else. and some just chop the whole plant at once.
to each his own. as for myself, i usually harvest twice, once for the colas and again 3 weeks later for the popcorn buds. i usually get a 25-35% increase of yield by doing this, as compared to if i just chopped the whole plant @ once.

omg, NOW I know all of this, just a few days before harvesting. Wow, pretty sad..I didn't prepare myself..thanks again for the info man, helpful :)

Btw, checking trichomes on leaves is alright, right? you dont have to check the flower itself, do you..lol first timer as you can see...

Another option if you aren't setup for multiple harvests, is to just harvest it all at once but seperate the more developed portions of the plant with amber trichs from the portions that only had cloudy trichs. Then you can pick what high you want when you smoke. :)
