Trichome Investigation

Hey all. I had to take a break from binge watching HOW TO FIX A DRUG SCANDAL on Netflix. I've got trichomes on the brain, probably because I'm days or weeks away from harvesting (that was an autoflower joke). Anyway, I've been thinking about trichomes, what they are and why they do what they do. There are many threads out there debating different techniques for increased trichome production. You got everything from nute schedules to RH levels/temperature and stuff like putting your plant(s) into 24 hours of darkness before chopping them down.

I'm curious what youz guyz think is the SINGLE most important factor that relates to trichome production.

I remember an old grower when I was living out in McKinleyville CA, grew all his stuff outside. He'd say houses are for smoking not growing. Anyway he was telling me that trichomes or what he called resin, was the plants natural reaction to the end of the growing cycle. He'd say that the drop in the amount of light is what triggered the plant to try and produce fruit (seeds) that would allow life to continue for this living thing that just wants to keep on living. But the resin is the plants reaction to the temperature dropping. Its a defense against the cold, sort of like a coat. I'll always remember that guy and what he told me. So my vote for the number one most important factor to help your plants produce trichomes is temperature.

Thanks for reading. Back to find out if they let a crap ton of people out of prison in Massachusetts because the drug lab tech was smoking crack.

Yeah, just throw that knowledge in the garbage bin.
