Treating stem rot

Putting honey in this stem to stop the spread. It’s burning black, is that ok?

Uh oh. I’ll stop using it. Does the wound look ok though? Do I need to carry on with the treatment you recommended or will it sort itself out? Thanks

It's hard to say. If the rot is systemic, which it likely is, it will continue moving up the branch.

The liquid copper makes it move at a snail's pace though.

I'd say you will probably lose that part, at the least. Use a craft knife eg Exacto to remove the destroyed brown part, it's like dental work almost. How much is left? From the photo you have some spread above/below.

Think the honey has worked?

It looks like its pretty soft to me, I would cut 2inches below or even the entire branch then spray with peroxide at the cut. In my experience if I have a branch that looks like that, the buds develop bud rot before they ripen and I have to discard them.
If you sanitize your clippers, cut the branch, spray peroxide at the cut, sanitize your clippers again and your hands, you should be able to prevent the mold from spreading to the rest of the plant. I use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to sanitize my clippers and hands and I use peroxide from the dollar store (3%) in a spray bottle to spray the cut.
You want to be very careful not to touch that soft spot and discard the branch in the garbage.
:peace: (:

Cut it off and added spray on diluted hydrogen peroxide. Does this look any better? Just don’t want to loose that branch, it’s the main cola and most of the plant! Thanks for advice all
